There are other books in this series, and I am wondering if they are worth getting. I know Grammer had mixed reviews on here. But for now, this is a good start.

I have the one on Pronouns and Prepositions - that's worth having. I can't comment on the Grammar book, I 'm afraid.

Andy.

Edit: There appears to be a 2nd edition of it out in August on Amazon UK.

Thanks Andy. I will add that to my wish-list and get the new one in August.

ANKI

Finally managed to download it today, and I have already created about 200 flashcards. I
am adding new ones as I go through my usual material. I love those flashcards and I am
sure they are going to speed up vocabulary learning considerably.

Deleted the whole ANKI list by mistake. That's 234 flashcards gone. Damn!! I was trying
to copy the list to create a second one in reverse order. Obviously things went wrong
somewhere. Oh well, I suppose retyping the whole thing will be more vocab practice. Or so
I am telling myself.

This week has been good so far:

Pimsleur 1 - Unit 19, 20
Harry Potter - L&R Spanish - Chapter 14, 15
Linguaphone Disc 3 Tracks 9 - 16

I am also doing scriptorium exercise with Michel Thomas Foundation course. That's
helping me get the hang of spelling, and it's a good review of the course before I do
the advance course.

ANKI flashcards are fabulous. Everyday I add few more cards to my vocabulary list. I
have set them up to review in both Forward and Reverse order, and ANKI is now a daily
part of my Spanish studies. Other parts of my studies focus on context, but spending a
little time every day just to review vocabulary is certainly useful.

I have also worked through Unit 1 of Practice Makes Perfect, but that needs to be
redone. I should have been more patient at the first attempt, so this time I am going o
do it properly.Take my time, look up words I don't know. The unit exercises themselves
- for the verb side of it - were fine. But I didn't know some vocabulary, and some
grammar rules (which are not part of this book, but one is expected to know), so that
needs more attention.

I have fallen in love with Spanish poetry. I have very limited experience of course. I only printed off some bilingual poems from albalearning.com - but even the poems that were actually written in English sound much better in Spanish.

I think the melody of the sounds fits the poetry perfectly.

I only printed them off as an additional study method, but I have enjoyed them so much now, I will be actively seeking some Spanish poetry.

Does anyone know where I can downlaod some free Spanish e-books that were translated from English? I was hoping to download some classics i.e. Jane Austen, Jules Vern (ok, not English), etc. But haven't found it on any of the usual sites like Project Gutenberg.

Neary done with L&R of Harry Potter y la Piedra Filosofal. I did this L&R without using a
dictionary, but with the next book I read, I will start using a dictionary. This was good
to get into, especially to see how much I understood over time due to other courses.

Michel Thomas Scriptorium is definitely helping. I am enjoying review of the course, and
it is also more satisfying to know that more things have stuck into my mind than I had
believed.

Pronunciation Question:

I have found that some words are pronounced with "J" sound by one speaker but with "Y" sound by another speaker.

Yo = I for example...sometimes it is spoken like JO but also like YO

Is this based on location?

What about llamar - It is YAMAR or JAMAR?

**

When there is a J in the world, is it ALWAYS pronounced like H, or sometimes like J too?

Julio is HULIO

What about CAJE = BOX? Is that CAJE or CAHE?
