The original FSI recordings don't need to be sped up, but there are some extra pauses in places. Platiquemos has one man, the guy playing Jose Molina, who I usually speed up by 20% or more. At least I did that in the earlier lessons. . |

Yes. I found he was very slow-speaking in the early lessons but seemed to speed up as time went on.

Are you using shadow in the sense of speaking in unison with the tape, or the more common echo of what was said? |

I Echo the first few times while I'm learning the lesson but once it's into the Review list I try to Shadow always - I've deliberately left the pauses in so that if I want to I can Shadow and then repeat the phrase.

You've got a lot of background in Spanish outside of Platiquemos, right? I'm looking forward to reading you language profile. |

If you mean that I've wasted an enormous amount of time, effort and money on virtually every available course under the sun - then you're absolutely correct :¬)
Now that I've got both Platiquemos and Assimil, I finally feel like I've got what I need to get to Advanced Fluency in Spanish.
My Language Profile is fairly complete although I think I need to revisit the skills list.
Andy.

So I’m not the only one? It seems as if wasting time and money on the elusive magic method is contagious.:)
