It's worth studying if your keyboard is from Taiwan, or if you're hoping to teach Mandarin in Taiwan. If you're learning Mandarin in Taiwan through classes, you most likely will learn bopomofo. But in the mainland, knowing bopomofo won't be very useful. |

I'm sure that some are familiar with it. But few actually used it to learn characters. It's possible though for them to adopt Han Yu Pin Yin. I don't speak for all Taiwanese people of course. But speaking on behalf of my Taiwanese friends, and my family, there is certainly a distaste in Taiwan for anything that has to do with the Mainland. I think if bopomofo were to be replaced, there might be some resistance. I would welcome the change though...
