Hey Teango, just dropping by for the first time this year to say hello, bonjour, hola, guten tag etc.etc. It seems you are Russian focused at the moment so I probably can't offer any other advice then to say keep up the great work!

January has been chock-a-block and unpredictable, to be sure. Only yesterday, for example, I had to drive over to hospital with my girlfriend, as we seem to have gotten carbon monoxide poisoning from our boiler that the landlord eventually relented to fixing last week. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the new year and new move chaos will start to abate soon, especially as we're already into February... well at least enough to let me loose properly on languages once again. Hope you had a good trip to Paris, by the way, and I look forward to seeing your Russian jump up in leaps and bounds over the coming months. You'll soon no doubt have to clear another shelf for your growing collection of Russian films too, like me. :) @Adrean Thanks for dropping by, Adrean. I've been enjoying your vids, and just taking a look at cool sites like literatureaudio.com really makes me want to start learning French again. Incidently, now that you've watched an impressive list of French films over the years, which good directors really stand out for you? As for the modest start to the year, your instincts may just be spot on here. PROGRESS UPDATE, WEEKS 5-7
SUMMARY  RUSSIAN
Active study: 27 hours (study-and-click: Евгений Замятин, "Мы" ) Total active study this year: 64 hours Current estimated reading level:  B1
Other activities this week: - 10 hours of Russian music in the background Total for other activities this year: 13 hours WANDERLUST CONFESSION BOX A very guilty week - this one! I bought a book and CD on BSL (British Sign Language) and then continued my book binge with several orders for a cartload of Irish language learning resources too. Wanderlust: 1 - Bank Balance: 0. I also had a slightly embarrassing episode at my local Chinese restaurant the other day. It started off an a good note, where I asked how to say the food was tasty (it sounded something a bit like "ho ho mei!"), but having had a little too much to drink and leaving it too long, I ended up saying "ho ho mao!" (I dread to think what this means). :-S TEANGO’S WORD OF THE WEEK Did you know that "бабочка" (butterfly) also means "bowtie" in Russian? If you didn't, you do now. ;) NOTES To say I've been unbelievably busy lately would be a massive understatement, so please forgive the absence of logs over the last few weeks. All the same, I did try to fit in some study in dribs and drabs, and ended up raking in another 2,000 words with a score of 87% on my last reading test. It's a small increase in the overall figures (which I initially felt down about after comparing where I was in other languages like Spanish and Swedish at this stage), but on the positive side, I did notice a much more significant improvement in how quickly I can process a page. Words are starting to materialise as concepts in my head rather than silent translations into English whilst I read the text, and the more words I learn, the easier it becomes to deduce or associate meaning in new words from their root and morphology alone. To be honest, I've only got around 100 tunes and have probably played them all to death by now. I really must shop around for some more soon before I end up clawing the wall like a cat with cabin fever! Some were gifts like my albums by Сплин, others were tracks I took a fancy to on Руское радио (which only plays songs in Russian language - life saver!). I also recommend checking out the weekly charts on MTV.ru and following up on any artists you might like with YouTube. Additional note: If anyone can recommend more "Russian music only" radio stations and contemporary chart lists, that would be a big bonus!
