I have been using the German Vocabulearn CDs for a few Months now. My thoughts:
1. They are pretty boring.
2. They are pretty extensive in the range of vocabulary included.
3. The audio is very clear, even if it seems a tad slower than regular speech.
4. I think that the CDs are too long personally. Given that they are around 30 minutes each, it really feels like way too much information for a single listen. I think the way to go would be to break it out into 3-5 minute "mini-lessons".
Overall, I like them.

As you say, it is of course possible (using Reaper, Goldwave or Audacity) to break the
lessons down into 5 minutes blocks - which makes the courses relatively painless to use if you are going for
a quick stroll or want to tack on a bit of vocab after your main language learning
lessons (if you use a dialogue type course).

Nice idea to break the lessons up. I should do that too.
Did the Japanese Vocabulearn Levels 1 and 2 but somehow didn't have time and motivation to continue. I guess I'll go for it again.
The words introduced are great stuff, as they're not some obscure never used terms.

Good news for those of you in the UK: amazon.co.uk now has vocabulearn (and learn in
your car) available in their mp3 store. I almost bought Vocabulearn French level 1, then
spotted the full set on CD for £10 used, so I got it instead.
I spend about an hour a day commuting, so a large chunk of my learning is audio. I have
mixed feelings about the value of Vocabulearn, but since I have time on my hands it
certainly can't hurt. As to how I'll use it, I'm not going to bother to play with
audacity, etc. It is already broken up into 10-12 minute chunks, which is just fine in
my opinion. I think I'll just put a single track on repeat for a single trip of 1/2
hour, and repeat that track for several days, then move on to the next track.

Is this true? If so, it would make sense that the pronunciation sounds just a little different than I've heard in other lessons/podcasts... I could never quite figure out what sounded "off" about the girl's pronunciation.
