I think I had a copy of the book years ago. It would have been one of the old yellow and green covers and I am pretty sure there was no audio for it. I don't know how you would make an audio of old English.

I love reading about the story of the English language. You can get a set of DVDs of the programs by Melvin Bragg on the history of English. He gave some very interesting information. You can also read it in his book on the subject. I borrowed the book from my library and I saw the program on television. They have just finished showing a rerun of the program on one of the Melbourne channels.

There is a certain amount of Old English audio available on the internet - not for the text in question, but some Beowulf sword-swinging stuff and etc.

Someone could make a recording. There are recordings of Latin courses (Cambridge Latin Coure for one) and I'm pretty sure there were no audio files unearthed in Pompeii. Not sure what accent you could use.

There are 2 audio cds available for Teach Yourself Old English by Mark Atherton published in 2006, if that is the edition the original poster has.

I would recommend looking on Amazon or Ebay to see if you can find them used for a cheap price, although I don't think that Teach Yourself sells the audio except in the complete package with the book.

If you want more than those 2 TY CDs then try these videos on Youtube:

The Battle of Brunanburh (with onscreen text)

The prologue to Beowulf (part of a playlist with a number of other Old English readings plus related stuff)
