Repetition occurs naturally. The war with Iraq will be on the news every day. Every Monday you'll hear about road accidents. Politicians drone on about the same policies day in, day out. You don't actually need to repeat material, because language is finite, and everything is recycled and repeated.

Regarding language learning, repetition doesn't occur naturally. You need to switch on the TV every day and listen again and again the same rubbish. This is willpower...

This is repetition by willpower. Others find materials they are interested in and then the repetition is natural.

You're missing my point. You said:

What I mean is that you don't need to listen to any piece of audio "repetitively", because the language will recurr in other pieces of audio.
So yes, you switch on the TV every day and you get different material that has similar content.
Switching on the TV every day is vastly preferable to listening to the same prerecorded material every day, both in terms of learner interest and in terms of the language itself.
Incidentally... have any of you seen www.livestation.com? News in half-a-dozen languages, among other things.

I can't agree more. I couldn't imagine repeating the same thirty minute dialogue (from a soap opera for example) over and over if I have the option to just watch the next episode. I would be bored stupid.

Very impressive, cheers. I would appreciate it if anyone else could add some links like this (especially for French and Spanish).

I am watching "The Office" (UK version). I like it a lot, but after watching and listening with my mp3 player every episode more than 10 times, I begin to feel sick, but it's useful.

It's cheaper to listening the same prerecorded material, more if we are talking about DVD sitcoms. If you watch the news, you will know we are in a international crisis...
