Language Geeks tend to spend too much time sitting because of all the studying we do. If
you've found a way to combine exercise and language-geeking, that would be great to hear.
The only thing I thought of is counting your repetitions in your weakest foreign
language, but that just helps to learn the numbers. Any other suggestions?
Anyway, if you're looking to improve your fitness level, and you're on Fitocracy.com, I
just created a group there for language geeks and some forum members already joined:
http://www.fitocracy.com/group/1491/
Fitocracy.com is receiving a lot of attention because of the xkcd.com cartoon about it.
It's basically a place to track your workouts, but it has an RPG atmosphere, with level-
ups, quests and the like. Right now it's in limited beta; I can provide invites.

Thinking tends to lead to reduced effort. You don't run, cycle or whatever as fast or as hard, so most people advise against thinking during a workout.

How about squats with a dictionary in each hand while reciting Assimil dialogues? I'm sure we've all got some books which could make this quite challenging.

Well, we can simply turn on the energetic music in our target languages.

Every long intellectual tradition that I am aware of emphasises the value of fitness for intellectual performance - look at the Ancient Greeks, for instance. No one said anything about doing your workouts and language study simultaneously (though Professor ArgĂșelles, for one, does).

Video workouts in your target language.
Something like this.
I for one tend to overexert myself when concentrating on the workout, so using extensive input is a good thing.

I have got a Nordic Walking DVD spoken in English with Dutch subtitles. I hope that it's language-geeky enough!

Actually modern teachers are advised to ensure that students have a chance to stand up
and move during the lesson, especially long sessions, because it improves blood flow to
the brain.
