Ardaschir, how much time would you spend with each Assimil program? Was is the "standard 5 month" suggestion on the back of the book? Or were you able to zoom right through them in a couple months? I ask because I'm finding it way easier to be able to listen and comprehand the material than I'm able to recite it. Under you Assimil post, I read that you first go over the material without even looking at the book. Is shadow reading not the preferred first step for continuing on to new lessons?

I found a listing of Ardaschir's langue course at the American University of Science & Technology under 'A. Argulles' with the following description:
HMS 205 The Effective Study of Foreign Languages (3 credits) This class is mainly a practicum in which students will experiment with various methods of foreign language learning in order to determine the most efficient ways for them to take control of the process and succeed in their studies. hello all,
I am new at this forum but it caught my eye that you were talking about Alexander Arguelles. He used to teach me in Lebanon "Western Civilizations" and I could not imagine any other course I had enjoyed more! He is an amazing teacher and an amazing person; he deserves all the respect and admiration a person can get. I was wondering if anyone knows where he is now. He left Lebanon during the war and it saddens me that I wouldn't be able to take another course with him again :( :( ! Does anyone know him personally as well?
