Lol, yes I was having that problem too!! I would even write the lesson number on a virtual post it note on my desktop but kept forgetting to update it so was still really none the wiser lol! At least keeping track on here will help me remember :oD

Ah I have a vague recolection of "Chciałbym" but not the rest lol, and I'm waiting to ask where Ulica Pienkna and Platz Zomkowe is lol. Apologies for the hideous spelling, but, well, it's Pimsleur and they don't teach how to spell no matter how many times I replay it! I really do wish they'd give transcripts with the audio; just as an extra but still have the audio for the main learning.

Hehehe shhh don't say that in front of my fiance lol!! I don't think we have room for another one... Altho I have already worked out a possible solution to work around the plug sockets ;o) hehehe.

Ooh just google translated powodzenia... Dziękuję!! :oD Powodzenia to you too :o)

Well, I'm not making much progress at the moment... Am just about to do some of lesson 5 Pimsleur Polish. We finally started looking for them places I mentioned in my last post so I will look forward to seeking them out again in today's lesson.

Been slacking a bit again so hopefully now I've realised this, I can get some more done instead!

Swedish wise (just because I was excited lol), I listened to some of Wallander audio book - Mannen Som Log. It was much easier to pick out words than it is with Swedish Twilight! I'm looking forward to listening to more :oD

I don't know how you use Pimsleur, but I use it for Chinese and put it on (headphones) when I have chores to do
(dishes, bathroom, floors, laundry, etc.). It goes by in no time.

I use Pimsleur with my phone or laptop - sometimes with headphones, sometimes without. I usually have to sit or lie with my eyes closed or staring at the laptop screen lol - otherwise I have trouble focusing. I've tried walking at the same time which isn't so bad but only when recapping - new words aren't so easy this way, especially if there's noise like cars going by. It would be more useful to combine it with housework lol, but I don't think I'd be able to concentrate.... Pimsleur or housework, housework or Pimsleur? Pimsleur wins every time lol :-p

Happy studies!

Polish update: I did lesson 5 Pimsleur yesterday :o) and I didn't fall asleep :oD

I also started to look into Afrikaans which looks fun but I'm trying to remind myself that I should focus on Polish and Swedish instead lol!! I might just have a little dabble tho - just for fun :oD

Be careful with housework + language study multitasking! I still do that, too, but once I washed the floor and the dishes with the same time and became quite ill. It was Assimil's fault, though. The L-C method (Listening/Cleaning) can be dangerous when not done properly!

Are you using the Pimsleur Long Course? I only have the Short course right now.

How did you get ill? Whenever I do pimsleur and housework it always takes me more time to finish the job but I
don't care as I'm doing two things at the same time. I like to fold and iron clothes when practicing too. Sometimes it
can get confusing though and when something tricky happens in the lesson, I have to stop doing whatever else I'm
doing, for a moment.

Well, I thought it should be time for an update... However uninteresting it may be lol. I've not really made any progress at all with my languages lately :o( I brought home some dual language books from the library about 5 weeks ago. I was learning some Polish words from a "first 100 words" at the same time as I was cross stitching; this was going ok. I started to read one of the story books but didn't really get beyond the first page. Half of me wants to give up as I can't find much motivation for the language and the other half of me feels really bad for thinking that and the idea of wasting what little I have already learnt. I couldn't even remember how to say "hello" the other day! I don't really want to lose the little I have learnt so maybe I should continue. Maybe it's just a case of motivation, I'm not even really studying much of Swedish (which I love), only listening to talk radio which I can pick out quite a bit now :o) and watching Top Model Sverige. I keep thinking I should study so I can learn more and pick out more but haven't quiet gotten around to it yet.

There's an Irish language group/class possibly starting up in my area so I might give that a go, at least if there's something structured I would have a kick up the bum to study and learn. I really do love learning languages, I just need a bit of a push sometimes to get me started lol. I think I might review what I've studied in Polish later, I'd rather maintain that much than lose it completely, and hopefully as I get more able to pull it from my brain quicker and quicker, I might get the desire to pick it back up properly again.

So yes, for now, I aim to maintain what I already have learnt and not put any pressure on myself to do more so I don't end up feeling guilty if/when I don't do more :o)

Take care peoples, will check back in with you again later :o)
Happy studying! x

Thanks for posting, glad to hear from one of the bisons!
I know what you mean about motivation. I actually started dabbling in Polish about 4 years ago and had a library copy of 'Colloquial Polish' on loan for 10 months but seldom used it. Then on 14th August 2010 I got all decisive and 'threw the gauntlet down'. I've had a few wobbles since ('what the heck am I doing this for?') but deepened my resolve to learn it. It's like getting over a series of demotivational humps; once you get over one it gets easier to keep going. I find it important to enjoy the challenges, of which they're many; and to enjoy the satisfaction of noticing progress (even if it's as slow as a glacier). I'm not the most disciplined person, but I'm in a good flow at the moment....it's about building momentum - once you're on a roll, keep going!
Have you thought about focussing on one language first? Say 90% Swedish and 10% Polish (basic maintenance mode). I'm amazed people can juggle several languages simultaneously, for me, Polish demands exclusivity at this stage.
Happy grazing!
