Sorry if I'm hacking the thread, but I haven't seen this piece of information: are 6WC planned in advance (where can I find the next one?) and is there a schedule of the languages that are going to be under the spot lights?
And perhaps I didn't really understand the concept, why is Finnish particular to this 6WC while many people simply choose to do the 6WC with another language?

Finnish isn't particular to this challenge. There was a half-related 30-day/45 hour Finnish challenge that happened to take place during this six week challenge. The first post of this thread contains a little more information.
There's not generally a language for a particular challenge, but sometimes several people decide to focus on one.
"Plans for 2012's 6 week challenges" says they're in February, May, August and November this year.

I'll also add that Esperanto is a popular choice, with its reputation for being easy. I also did an Esperanto 6WC ages ago.
Spanish, French and German are popular as well.

When does the Tadoku challenge start again? :-) |

My feelings exactly. The 6WC has done wonders to my Japanese, but now I feel like I'm
running out of steam :) I'll keep doing my best for the last week, though.
What's a Tadoku challenge? I'm intrigued!

here's a thread about Tadoku. Its other name is "read more or die" :)
the guy who runs it announced on twitter that everything is ready and a new post is coming. he tweeted 12h ago that he was too sleepy, so maybe it'll be really soon. i'm excited :P
my lifestyle actually hasn't changed much due to 6WC, i simply spent more time learning Indonesian than I would otherwise, but I'd have probably spent this time learning languages anyway. oh and today I've changed my Indonesian level here to intermediate.
will be somewhat relieving to do more in other languages tbh...

My hours are more or less the same in terms of study, just that I haven't been sticking
to daily study before the 6WC. But now, I intend to keep at it regardless :)
Thanks for the Tadoku link.

I just want to explain why my updating will look a little over the top:
No electricity since Saturday night, that means, since Saturday night no computer, no television, no refuelling mp3 players! They say that very cloud has a silver lining, right, lots of time to try Greek immersion.
I was getting worried all my hard work over the last days was going to count for nothing as this challenge finishes tonight, at midnight.
Now I'm back on, just in the nick of time.
Well, updates here we go.
