Just a note - for Lao, WALS gives "nam sa" for tea - since s in Lao often corresponds to ch in Thai, this is clearly another hidden derivative of the Mandarin term ("nam" being water.)
WALS is a lot of fun, but if you look closely for a language you know well, you're likely to find a lot of small problems like this one.
