OK, thanks. I was going to count children's books as 1/3 a book but 1/5 sounds fair.

I'll still pick up a lot of words in kid's books, I'm sure.

I'm still working out how to count things for myself as well. Any suggestions how many episodes of a 1/2 hour show to count as a film? Two would be more than 45 minutes, but probably less than an hour. So I'm thinking 3 episodes make a film? What's the general opinion?

I would say that if it lasts 30 minutes, count three for a film, If it is 40 minutes, count two.

I AM GOING TO FRANCE TOMORROW AND AM BACK ON SATURDAY - I DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH I WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER WHILE I AM THERE.

Now that the challenge is officially underway, does anybody have any books/films in particular that they're
SUPER PSYCHED to get to?

Let's motivate ourselves. :)

I'm really (really!) Looking forward to reading Les Misérables. I love the musical, but I've never read the
translated novel because I wanted to wait to be able to read it in it's original form. I think I'm going to save it
until later in the challenge when my French has improved and I can appreciate it better, but agh, I wanna
read it noooow! *foot stomp*

There is nothing to say you can't read Les Misérables now, and then read it again later in the challenge. You might make an annual habit of reading it!

As for me, I'm looking forward to reading a few books I have in Hindi, which are history for adolescents: a biography of Mahatma Gandhi, one of Indira Gandhi, and a few others. I also have a novella by Ruskin Bond called नीला छतरी (Blue Umbrella). After I read it, I might try to get the Hindi film made from it. For French, I'm looking forward to finally reading my 3 Tintins in French, and some other short books for adolescents, e.g. Maigret et la jeune morte (in a simplified edition). I'm a little less ambitious than you, Moniker, but I'm really looking forward to finally using what I've been stacking for so long on my shelves!

Twitter Bot question:

I tweeted the first four Harry Potter movies in Spanish (along with their running times) as I watched each one through the course of the day, but the Twitter Bot page has me credited with 6 movies, not 4. I really don't want to be credited with 6 movies when I've actually only watched 4. Is there a way I can get an honest count of movies watched? Should I leave off the running time of the movies when I tweet?

How much time were the films? A three hour film should count as two films, otherwise they should be one film each. I didn't think the HP films were that long.

That's another option. You could just ignore movie length and number of pages and maybe things will even out in the end. Some movies/books are longer than the suggested average, some are shorter.

Yes - if you leave off the running time, it'll just count the number of times you've tweeted "#film". The same applies for books/writing/etc.

I've got a similar problem with my last tweet. I tweeted that I've red 5 articles and later on I got a message saying that I've read a book. Obviously these 5 pages can only count as something like a chapter from a book.
