Just realised that I haven't updated progress in here at all...

Books: 33.8

1. Niemandsland
2. De kat die het drama zag
3. De kabbalist
4. De zwarte met het witte hart
5. De ortolaan
6. Een rus in de jordaan
7. Maigret in de verdediging
8. De zaak styles
9. Oeroeg
10. Moord op de golflinks
11. Profeet van de duivel
12. De midasmoorden
13. Witte zuster in donker afrika
14. Zoon van de duivel

Standouts here are: Niemandsland by Hisham Matar (translated from the English - In the Country of Men) - the story of a young boy growing up in 70s Libya; Oeroeg by Hella Haasse - the story of a Dutch boy growing up on his father's plantation in Indonesia and Profeet van de duivel and Zoon van de duivel by Adrian Stone (otherwise known as Ad van Tiggelen - apparently his publishers thought the books would sell better if it seemed they were translated into Dutch...) - these are two fantasy novels that really took me - as they're only available in Dutch, it was nice to be able to read them knowing I could only do it because I can read in Dutch.

Films: 56

Flikken Seasons 1-3
Flikken Maastricht Seasons 1-4, the start of season 5
Zone Stad Season 1
Moordvrouw Season 1
Oeroeg
Oeroeg making of
Pauline & Paulette

The tv shows are all detective shows - all good fun, though Moordvrouw and the original Flikken (which is Belgian) are the best. Oeroeg is good, and based on the book by Helle Haasse, though it goes further than the book in time. Pauline & Paulette is the story of a woman with learning difficulties whose caregiver sister dies and how her other sisters deal with having to look after her - recommended. Includes a tiny bit of French as some of the action takes place in Brussels, though most is in Flanders.

General

I'm on track with films, but still a bit behind with books. I'm really enjoying this, and think it has made a huge difference to my Dutch - I changed my profile here to say I speak it now as I think that's a fair assessment. I'm now getting most of what I read and most of what I hear, so will try to read more widely and watch more films that aren't crime dramas (though I'll still include a lot as they are great fun!)
