Please count me it for Advanced Super Duper Challenge with Russian. (And I'm doing this not because I'm a crazy noob, but because I need to work on production, which makes the speaking and writing important, and because in order to do the first I should probably be saturated in the language, hence the reading and listening. Great idea, Solfrid. Thanks!)

Welcome! But please remark that we have nothing against people being a bit crazy when it comes to
languages :-) Do you want to have the conversation or the writing included (since for this challenge you
chose just one of them)?

I am already doing a Super Challenge for French.
May I simultaneously do an Advanced Super Challenge for Hindi/Urdu too?
Background:
Strengths:
-I am comfortable speaking Hindi.
-I can finish most sentences I start.
-I can understand jokes and puns. I have on occasion, made a few of them myself.
-I can participate in conversations with a group of native speakers with ease.
-I can understand all of what I hear in Hindi. Not so much in Urdu, though. There, I try to guess the meaning from the context.
Weaknesses:
-My grasp over the written form of the language is pretty weak.
-I was taught Basic Hindi in school and can read the devanagari script. However, I am nowhere as comfortable reading Hindi as I am with English.
-Having taught myself the Urdu Script, I can read it, albeit haltingly.
Goals:
-Most of my classmates are native speakers of Hindi and are unable to speak Bengali. Thus, I speak Hindi with them all day long while in college. So, I am not worried about the conversation part of the challenge.
-What I really want is to polish my reading and writing skills, both in Hindi and in Urdu, while focussing more on Urdu.
-I intend to avoid the over-Sankritised and over-Arabised forms and stick to the middle ground wherever possible.
So, where do I sign up? :-)

Third update:
FILMS
1. Beverly Hills 90210 ep. 1-2 ( May 5th)
2. Beverly Hills 90210 ep. 3-4 ( May 5th)
3. Beverly Hills 90210 ep. 5-6 ( May 6th)
4. Beverly Hills 90210 ep. 7-8 ( May 6th)
5. Beverly Hills 90210 ep. 9-10 (May 9th)
When I have been through two seasons of this in French, and two seasons of Gossip Girl in Spanish (which I am doing with my daughter, to prepare her for a Spanish exam), I think I will have my fill of obnoxious, decadent filthy rich Americans to last me a lifetime.
I am positively longing for ANYTHING else. Even Sex in the City is an intellectual pursuit compared to this. The series, not the... Oh. You know what I mean :-)
And my daughter is desperate for me to get her Pretty Little Liars. Thankfully it is not out yet, and I am considering being not such a pretty little liar myself and claim I cannot get it. I think I will lie down and die if I have to watch more of this.
Oh. And my daugher informed me that since we are watching the new version, and not the old one, is not technically Beverly Hills - just 90210. Whatever. I have started registering it as such now, so I might as well continue.
