This week has been a great one for Khmer. I have found a lexicon of some new economic and business words that
have just been released which is great. On top of that I am writing a book to try and improve the language
program for foreign staff who come to Cambodia to work with us. I have no experience in this area but it's really
exciting and I am enjoying it. Today I will be recording some audio with some native speakers.

Sounds interesting!

It's certainly a new experience, and it's great fun!

27/7/13 - Not been a great week for Chinese. Managed to get lesson 32 of CME done, learnt some new hanzi and
some new vocab. I am up to date with Anki although today was the first day I actually added anything new to my
decks, and I missed the odd day or two and had to catch up. Didn't really have any Chinese input which isn't good.
Going to start having my wife 'tutor' me a little bit, basically just have her speak Chinese to me and tell me stories
so that I can try and translate them back into Khmer. I figure that way I will get some more listening practice in.
My DVDs should be here in a few weeks - when my friend tried to mail them from China to Cambodia they asked to
see inside the package, and when they saw it was DVDs they upped the postage cost to $100!! So now I am
waiting for a friend who is going to China to bring them back for me. I also have a friend who just went to
Singapore and so they are bringing me a couple of DVDs next week which is cool.

As for Khmer, got all the recording done for the first 5 chapters of the book and so now we have a few people
testing it out so I can get some feedback. Done a very small amount of chapter 6. Learnt quite a few new words in
Khmer this week from the Lexicon I downloaded so that's great.

2/8/13 - Haven't done any of CME this week as I got a copy of the Glossika Fluency 'Appointments' Module and
have started working through that. I am really enjoying it and I already feel like it is helping me a lot. I have the
Jungle Book and Despicable Me on Chinese DVD to watch, so will watch one of those this evening. I have also been
watching at least 30 minutes of Chinese TV a day, even though I don't really understand much of what is going on,
I am able to pick out words and understand the odd full sentence or two. Anki is up to date for both Khmer and
Chinese, and I have hit 1,100 characters now.

8/2/13 - Missed a couple of days this week for my wedding anniversary! However, continuing on with the Glossika
module and feel it is helping. Watched the Jungle Book and have been watching another TV series also. I have
decided to go back over previous CME lessons to improve my listening as it is terrible. What I am doing it simply
listening to the dialogue and then writing it down, and then checking back to see how I did. I figure this must be
some form of intensive listening that has me really paying attention to every sound and tone. After that I will also
translate what I have written down. Today I started doing this with lesson 3. Anki is up to date

17/8/13 - Not been a good few days at all. Haven't really done anything language wise as I have been super busy.
Watched the odd episode of Chinese TV and continued with some of the Glossika course, but that's about it. One
of those weeks! Hope to get back into the swing of things a little bit next week

23/8/13 - Continuing on through Glossika. My Chinese DVD's finally arrived, so last night I watched The Sword in
the Stone and then tonight I watched Bambi. The Sword in the Stone was a terrible dub for some reason, even for
an animated movie! Bambi on the other hand was great. I also have Cinderella and Peter Pan bilingual books
which I will start looking at when I have the time. I am at 1200 characters now but not really getting any practice
reading outside of Anki, so it will be good to try and spend some time on that. Back at work now so my time for
languages is not great, but just trying to do at least something every day.

Still carrying on with the Khmer book, as well as setting up some tests for our foreign staff in October. Translated
for a friend teaching a school how to make water filters today which was fun. Learnt how to say limestone and
aluminium sulphate, although i'm not sure i'll be needing those words again any time soon!

3/9/13 - Not much to report. Was at a conference for 3 days and have just started staff training at work so I
haven't had much time for languages unfortunately. However, I did some translation for the conference so that
was good for Khmer. Anki is all up to date. Watched a couple more Chinese disney movies too. These next few
weeks are going to get busy, so just going to try to stay on top of Anki and not set any big goals that I won't be
able to keep up with.

Sounds promising... How does this method work?
