I think that's fine. Just a couple of other options:
1. "Chinese and Japanese" could be grouped together and other Chinese languages could be put in the "Other Asian Languages" subforum, along with Korean, Indonesian, Malay, etc.
2. Perhaps have another forum for "Other Teutonic Languages" with Dutch, English, etc. running separately from the German subforum.

I don't think we should have too many forums to begin with. If the Romance subforum ends up getting diluted with Spanish threads, then we could think about adding a seperate Spanish subforum, but until that happens, I think we should try to keep the number of subforums down to a minimum.

Can forums be nested? For instance, can a Multilingual Lounge be put in the Specific Languages Forum. Within that Multilingual Lounge, one could put the individual subforums. The idea is to keep the front page from getting too long. It's not a huge deal, as one can use "Active Topics" and that tames the scrolling beast a bit.
