Speaks: English*

As a child, I was very interested in Spanish, and quickly became fascinated by everything involving Spanish. Growing older I became interested in all different types of languages. I didn't study Spanish until high school, where I took Spanish classes for two years. The classes focused solely on Spanish grammar, and didn't require students to actually speak in Spanish or understand spoken Spanish.

Recently, I changed schools and my new school has a different approach to language learning, which has inspired me to study Spanish again. I have found many great resources on this site that I am going to use to study Spanish further.

It chose me. I discovered that many people in my area speak this language and I wanted to
show them respect by learning their language.

English because it's a must.

Esperanto because of the idea, its history and culture, because it's sounds like latin,
it's a beautiful language, because it's easy, because of esperantists who are smart,
open-minded and friendly, because it's an artificial language which became a modern
language. Because it's like a family, because nobody owns Esperanto, because it's a
scorned language. Etc...

Russian because it's chic.

Hebrew - My native language.
English - To all intents and purposes also native, due to living in England at a young
age.
Arabic - The only language (other than English) offered at my school, but also a
fascinating language with plenty of opportunities to use it. Besides, learning is
something of a family tradition.
Spanish - I was forced to start learning it at school in the United States, and when I
returned to Israel I decided I liked it and it would be a shame to drop it.
Latin - I love this language, also, but not only, because it allows me to connect with
distant cultures, not only geographically but also chronologically.
Portuguese - My favourite Romance language.
Greek - For an upcoming trip to Greece. Well, that's the excuse, anyway. The real
reason is that I've been fascinated by this language for a while.
Sanskrit - I came across a Sanskrit grammar book and tried to resist buying it, but to
no avail.
Maltese - An interesting mixed language, and I happen to know someone who speaks it.
German - I simply like the language.
Italian - My father speaks it, and I have some distant family in Italy. Again, this is
just the excuse.

I could add some more languages to this list, but I think it's long enough already.

English is native.

Chose Japanese because I like to read the odd manga and because I liked the idea of
learning thousands of characters for writing. I also like some of the music and want to
understand it more.

I wanted another Germanic language and like Nordic history and Icelandic is still the
closet to Old Norse so I picked that too. Also, it uses unique letters that went extinct
in other Germanic languages.

I did French in school so I try to pick it up again on and off.

Kurdish: I was very interested in the Middle East, and while researching it, I learned about the Kurds, and all of a sudden I started getting interested in their language. Luckily, my neighbors included a family of Kurds, so I was able to go farther in the language than had they not been there to help me.

Arabic: I looked into it,and fell in love. Enough said. I loved the script and the sound of it, so I then decided to study it seriously.

German: I took it while in high school since I already knew Spanish, and wasn't interested in Latin or French. I'm not quite skilled at German, however.

Persian: After Kurdish and Arabic, I fell in love with the notion of learning more Middle Eastern languages. I tried Persian, loved it, and continued with it.

French: The Little Prince captivated me, plus I find France and other countries in which it is spoken interesting.

I picked Chinese because when I was younger I took a trip to China. It was my first trip
where I could interact easily with locals. I wanted to keep up with that.
Plus the idea of speaking multiple languages has always attracted me.
