Hi,milesaway!
I am so envious of you for being so advanced in Russian - but it is great to have you on the team as an inspiration and a connection to mother Russia :-)

I am indeed an English teacher. I can double as a French teacher as well, but that
hasn't happened (it's in my contract though).
Cristina: I wouldn't necessarily say that I am that advanced, I still have a long way
to go before I can speak without mistakes or read a page without finding any new words.
There's a slight chance I'll end up in Norway for a holiday next summer, so I'll let
you know if that works out.
And the holidays begin, hooray! It turns out that I'll only be doing half the camp, so
I come back on the 7th.
Anyone done the Tadoku challenge before? I'm debating doing it for Russian, as I plan
on reading a ton anyway. Might be nice to see how I stack up against others. I'll count
it toward my personal challenge, and then we'll see what happens with the Super
Challenge. I'll probably join that as well, but I guess it will only start in May or
so.

I have done the Tadoku - I have even won one :-) It is absolutely brilliant when it comes to reading a lot. I
think you can only participate with languages up to B1 though, so unless they have changed the rules you
may be too advanced.
And do come by if you come to Norway!

Hmm, I looked over the rules and could not find anything about a maximum level, although
I may just be missing it. Oh well. I have never used twitter, so I'd probably fail
miserably at that.

Всех с новым годом!
I started off the new year by finishing a movie that I started watching the previous
night. And then the first part of the traditional new year's film in Russia: Ирония
судьбы
I'm officially signed up for the Tadoku challenge.
I got myself a book yesterday, Лексический минимум for the ТРКИ-2 test. I want to
ensure that I know all those words before I move on to the ТРКИ-3. I'll go get some
more materials after the holidays, likely on the 9th or 10th. There are practice tests
and study materials for the 4 parts of the exam.
I'll write the minutes and pages here, because that's what it boils down to.
2014:
Russian:
90/18000 minutes
0/20000 pages

I'm off to a flying start this year, for Russian at least.
Films:
340/18000 minutes
104/20000 pages
Only January 2nd, and I've read 100 pages, and seen more than 3 films.
I've also done 10 words in Icelandic on memrise, so there's some progress happening.
I'll do some more Finnish tomorrow, then I won't be online again until the 8th.
Hopefully I'll have a nice big page number update.
New film:
Serendipity, which I watched dubbed in Russian, but with English subtitles. Go figure.
My goals for the time I'm at camp:
Russian:
-Read at least 50 pages a day
-Write down 2-5 new words each day
Icelandic
-Go through 2 units of Colloquial Icelandic
Finnish
-I'll be bringing Suomen Mestari with me, so review what I know, and do another 2
units.
My time goal would be 20-30 minutes a day of Icelandic and Finnish. The rest will be
spent reading Russian.

I'm back from camp! Nothing like being in an old soviet camp, with no internet and cell
phone reception that only works outside. Sigh.
As it turns out, I did absolutely nothing with Finnish or Icelandic, as I was quite
busy dealing with kids and helping the other teacher plan.
However, I accomplished a lot in reading, so I'm quite happy with that.
I finished Кот, который нюхал клей, read through Кот, который гулял под землёй, and
started Кот, который разговаривал с привидениями.
Books:
581/20000 pages
Now I need to work on my intro for the team thread. I posted one in English, but I'd
like to do one in Russian in audio format as well. But we shall see.
