Oh right! Yeah I'd like this one ! Plus to make it harder, one can explain the character
IN chinese as well if he/she wants to spice up the challenge a bit! (I definitely will!)

yuhakko, try putting a space after all your punctuation marks. The problem is that the forum automatically adds spaces after 50 characters. Chinese characters use multiple bytes, often times the forum counts 50 bytes and adds a space, the 50th byte just so happens to be in the middle of a character. That's why you get the strange boxes with question marks (with a space in the middle). I've got some suggestions for your Chinese text which i'll post later :)
EDIT: My suggestions:
1. For coming late i would use 来晚了. If you want to say a little late, try 来得有点晚了
2. 上个月我真忙 or even 忙极了
3. I've noticed Chinese people tend to avoid using lots of 的 in a row, usually by dropping the first one/two. So i'd just say "我法语的名字是..."
9. “我还说得不好” With 可以 and 能, i don't think you'll ever use the 得 construction. A common example: 你听得懂吗? 你能听懂吗?
10. 我觉得可以不是这么用的。 我可能搞错了,但我会说 “我差不多都看得懂/都能看懂”
11. Ok, i think that's enough, just one last thing. "我也喜欢问" means "I like to ask". 你的意思是“我想问(一下)”吧? :)
I hope you get your visa soon! I was in China but had trouble getting a visa to go back when i went to visit some friends over summer so had to come back to the US. So i feel your pain :) It's still far easier than getting a visa to come to the US, though (agh). Good luck! 一路顺风!

So, is the February challenge the introduction of a hanzi we like? I am a bit confused about wether it was already agreed on this. I like the idea.
I have another suggestion for one of the monthly challenges: how about finding and translating a song? We could provide characters, pinyin and the translation. Beginners could just look for easy songs or even childrens songs.

I like the song idea :) To be honest i'm not too keen on the character idea, it seems a little short/easy, but i'm not against it if other people like it.

Agreed, I think the character thing might be difficult. After saying it looks interesting or looks like what it is
describing, I don't know what I would say! The song idea sounds great, and it caters for all levels of Chinese.

It's also a nice chance to get to know other Chinese songs, plus you'll have the benefit of a nice explanation of the song in English (or whatever language you choose to analyze/translate it in) :)

As far as I can tell, it means a failure to read the video.
Travel in Chinese is also available on Youtube and possibly elsewhere.
Enjoy:
