I'd like to join this team with French, currently beginner, aiming for intermediate; my log.
I'm also studying Spanish, German, Japanese, Ukrainian.
My priorities for this year are on consistent progress in Spanish, French, and German at the same time.
I'm not focusing on active skills at the moment, though I might be more comfortable with that later in the year, if my language skills improve.
I'm not planning to update my log a whole lot, maybe weekly progress reports, more if I decide to practice writing.
Looking forward to the TAC experience!

Why not just set it to 30? It seems like usually with a team of 15-20, half seem to disappear and a few others stop posting as often. With 30, at least we'll still have a solid group no matter what. |

That sounds good. I'll put a notice in the opening post.

Yeah I think 30 seems a good number. Any further thoughts on team names everyone?

Bonjour a tous!
I've set up my log here.
log
I've been grinding away at French for a couple years now. I'm finally at a point where
I don't need to formally study as much, and can just enjoy a book or a show. I still
want to use French daily in some form; I figure the longer I use it the more it will
become internalized.
I'll be in France for 11 days this Spring, traveling solo. I'll use this as a chance
to bump my speaking abilities up a notch. I hope to finish FSI (two chapters left),
and will probably do a review of Pimsleur IV before I go.
Otherwise, my plan is to continue reading a lot, and watching French tv. I think I'm
done with French movies for awhile. At the top of my list:
Romans
La condition humaine. André Malraux, 1933.
Vendredi ou les limbes du pacifique. Michel Tournier,1967.
Le soulier de satin, Paul Claudel. 1929.
L'oeuvre au noir, Marguerite Yourcenar 1968.
Aurélien, Louis Aragon, 1944.
A l'ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs, Marcel Proust, 1923.
Illusions Perdues, Balzac, 1843.
Bandes dessinées
Pinocchio. Winshluss (2008)
L'Amérique ou Le Disparu, Réal Godbout. 2013
Siegfried T3: Le crépuscule des dieux, Alex Alice. 2011
Plus more Astérix and Tintin.
I would read a lot more graphic novels if they weren't so dang expensive.
Television
Les revenants, Season 2 - One day, the dead start to return to a small mountain town,
not aware that they're dead, or that time has passed. Season 2 is supposed to start in
2014; I hope I can stream it.
Kaamelott, Season 2 - Sketch comedy set in the days Arthur, roi de Bretagne.
Un village français - I hear a lot of good things about this show.
Maison close - Life in a 19th Century Parisian brothel.
Finally, here are some resources that you all might like!
French tv transcripts (Kaamelott, plus American shows in French)
hypnoweb
French streaming tv (Les revenants and Maison close; no subtitles)
stream
(This works on my pad, but not my desktop)

Is anyone else going to be focusing on some Quebecois this year?
Also tasty, not to be a stickler, but there's a gap in the url in my log on the front page. :o

If there's still room, I'd like to sign up for
French as well. I’m a rank beginner, though I
learned it in school when I was younger (I'm
Canadian). So I'm sure that a lot will come back
when I get into it, but right now I can barely
string a couple of words together :)
