I would be interested in joining for Vietnamese. I've studied a few other Southeast Asian languages as well. And I would certainly support DoubleUelle being the leader.

If there is a group of like-minded people who want to start a team, that's enough as far as I'm concerned.

I've suggested a TAC team for Southeast Asian languages in the main 2014 thread. No
response so far (not surprising - I figure it might take a bit before everything is
sorted out with teams for 2014).

I don't mind being team leader, but if anyone would prefer to do it (or wants to be co-
leader), let me know.

I'll second that, DoubleUelle has my vote. Taking the initiative to start a TAC team instead of an individual log is all
the evidence of commitment that I need to see.

As I mentioned in the sign-up thread, I'm interested in this team. I wouldn't be an active member until May,
which is when I plan to start learning Tagalog. (Until May, Spanish is my sole focus.)

My goal: go from a zero to the equivalent of A2 or B1 in spoken Tagalog. My husband and his family are all
Tagalog-speakers, and I would like to be able to engage in casual conversations.

My methods:
- Tara Mag-Talag Tayo textbook
- italki tutors (I'm going to aim for 3 sessions per week)
- daily practice with my husband (he can't teach me. He's not a teacher. But he'll be my sounding board and
help me practice what I've learned on my own and with a tutor. Like many Filipinos, he's not quite sure *why*
I want to learn Tagalog, but he's very supportive.)
- I'll probably also sign up for one online resource, either filipinopod101 (although their email marketing
campaign is absolutely OBNOXIOUS) or (hopefully!) the resource described on this thread:

SE Asian
courses

I've updated the "Team Members" section in the 1st post (for now).

Do we want to stick with the name "Southeast Asia"? Or should we find something more
symbolic?

This might sound a bit silly, but I'm partial to "Team Coconut" (in honor of the climate
and tropical fruits of Southeast Asia) =P

How about Team Coconutty?! It has the SE Asian tropical fruit aspect to it, and also a bit of excitement to it,
reflecting that this won't just be a boring team! Haha! To be honest I'm fine with whatever!

Something about coconuts is fine with me. Actually it's coconut season now - I live in Bangkok and we just came back from a fresh market where we picked up four of them. I'm kind of on a coconut kick at the moment. :)

Just wanted to say best of luck to everyone here. I hope to study Indonesian or Malaysian one day, though I won't have enough time to do so this year. But hopefully I'll be able to join another year.
