I'll write it up during the Easter holiday - and then I'll open up a thread where people can sign up for the
challenge. I hope you are all starting to prepare :-)

Thanks, Cristina, that sounds awesome!

So, everyone: We've got two weeks to hoard books, movies, tv series, audiobooks and so on!

And don't forget about warming up!

I have a horror of a night before me: Getting up at two in the morning, bus picks us up at three, plain leaves
at six and I am in Oslo at nine in the morning and at home around noon. And what do I plan to use to keep
myself awake: Death and destruction in Russian - also known as an Agatha Christie novel. I am reading it
now, and will make it the first book I read in May once the challenge starts, to see if reading something I have
read before will take my time down from the 'one week, reading six hours a day' which is my current speed in
Russian. When I accept understanding only 10% of the text, that is :-)

So you're taking a SC for Russian?! How brave of yours! My Russian is a bit behind yours,
but by no means I can take even a half challenge. I could read 2 pages a day at most.

Um this is how the challenge started in the first place.

Cavesa, the only change is that the half-challenges are allowed again. (I assume that only book+audio, not one or the other)

It also turned out that I misunderstood what Cristina said here about having to choose what counts during LR. I thought the statement only applied to L2-L2, because it clearly doesn't make sense for L1-L2.

I know that the challenge started with earlier levels of the language, but I'd feel
uncomfortable with doing it for Russian, which is probably at a middle A2. I'd rather do
it with an early B1 language.

I mean specifically that the challenge started because Cristina set a personal goal and was hoping a couple more equally crazy people would join.

The question about pages of various things has come up from time to time. For example, how many pages to count in Word documents, etc. One guideline is the number of words per page in an average book. This site says it's about 250 words per page. I've seen others which say 300. This other site says it's 300 for a 5.5 x 8.5 book, and 350 for a 6 x 9 book.

So I'm going to reckon on 300 words per page. I have the Amélie script on Word, and Word tells me it has 9312 words; divided by 300 and it comes to 31 book pages. I haven't read it, but that seems about right.
