Hi French team members! I'm looking forward to following your logs this year. I'll be moving to Lorraine, actually quite close to the border with Germany, so hopefully I'll get to practice my German as well (and maybe even learn some Lorraine Franconian!).
I was going to write a post with some better goals and plans for either German or French today, but I don't have them yet. I do have some related goals that I'll put in this post, though.
This year, I'd like to become more involved in the polyglot community. I have been reading this forum for probably 8 (?) years now, but I don't really participate much. I even think I joined a TAC at one point, but I fizzled out (on writing in the logs, not on the actual studying). My goal this year is to be an active TAC team member and maybe even to go to the Polyglot Gathering in Berlin if I can get up the courage!

Thanks for sharing anamsc2... That sounds beautiful moving to the Lorraine region :)
Would love to hear about the polyglot gathering if you do attend

Hi teammates; thanks for dropping by! Okay, time for some plans.
Oops -- I forgot the English translation!
I started learning French about 3 years ago. After about a year, I stopped in order to study German. Now I can understand it and in France I can survive in French, but my vocabulary is small and I make a lot of mistakes and interferences / transfers from Spanish and Catalan. I also can't really have a real conversation.
I'm moving to France in August or September, and my goal is to speak enough French that I don't have to ever use English and that I can make friends in French. In the very distant future I'd like to get native-level French.
I'm going to be busy until the middle of February, but I'd like to finish Duolingo and listen to a lot of France from now until then. Afterwards, I'll make specific plans, including some of the following: exchange partner in French, French meetup, videos and podcasts, French course in my town, intensive French courses in April and/or August.

Deutsch

I'm planning on studying German only until I move to France; then I'll just review. I don't have time until February to study German, but then I'll take a course and hopefully also an exchange. I'll update my plan in February!

Today I don't have much to say; I wanted to have a plan for Spanish and Catalan but I don't have one yet. And like I said before, until the middle of February I'm not planning on studying much. I hope to keep doing lots of listening until February because I think it helps a lot. I'll also need to improve my active skills sometime though.
My goals for this week:
1. keep listening to stuff in French and German
2. make a recording speaking in Spanish (and maybe Catalan) to see where my accent needs improvement

1. Assimil + Extra auf Deutsch
2. Deutsch Interaktiv + Grüße aus Deutschland
3. Serien, usw. auf Deutsche Welle (Jojo sucht das Glück, Warum Nicht, Ticket nach Berlin, usw.)
4. Harry Potter Buch + Hörbuch (4-5 Monaten)
5. Intensivkurs in Deutschland (2 Wochen, Niveaustufe C1)
What I wrote is probably full of errors, so corrections are welcome!
English:
I'd like to tell you guys how I've learned German so far. I hope it'll be helpful. It's also good for me to remember what I've done so I know what works or not.
I worked for 1-2 months in each phase (except 4 and 5).
1. Assimil + Extra auf Deutsch
2. Deutsch Interaktiv + Grüße aus Deutschland
3. Series, etc. on Deutsche Welle (Jojo sucht das Glück, Warum Nicht, Ticket nach Berlin, usw.)
4. Harry Potter book + audiobook (4-5 months)
5. Intensive course in Germany (2 weeks, level C1)
I'll try to update this later with links if I remember; that's probably more useful!
