Hi. My name is Expugnator. It's been already 3 years that I've been studying Russian, but I still can't say anything in Russian. I really hope in 2015 I can make some progress, since my situation is terrifying. Good luck, everyone! |

The first letter in a sentence is always capitalized in Russian.

Hey everyone!
My name is micha. I wanna learn Russian because I love Russian rap and the TV-Show "Kuhnya". Maybe that is a little strange but it's true.
I began studying Russian exactly one year ago. I wanna be conversational by the end of the year and not make mistakes in every sentence.

I have always wanted to meet my cousins, I see no reason to continue the family feud, but I have no idea
whether that will turn out to be so emotionally draining that a four hour mass on top of that will be too much
for me. I really look forward to the mass though! I have never attended a Russian Orthodox mass before.

Strictly speaking, you are not allowed to attend the whole mass, but only the beginning, before the words
After that it is the Литургия верных, where only Orthodox Cristians are allowed to
be present. |

Thanks, Mark, and happy New Year! The chances of us catching those words, whenever they are said, are
close to nil, but if someone wants to kick us out after a while, I am not one to protest. Close to four hours
standing after what looks like an extremely full day will probably be too much for me anyway. Are you sure
about that though? Generally Christians can visit each other's masses, they just can't take holy communion.
Anyway, this being in Norway, I would be extremely surprised if anyone is excluded.

(Welcome to the team!)
Great job posting all those self-introductions, guys! I'll post mine soon, but I just returned from my New Year's holiday and found my flat ice-cold with a broken heating. I will have to fix that before I can start thinking about languages again. I hope it can be repared quickly.

Wow, there's been activity here! Somehow I wasn't getting updates on this thread--maybe that'll fix itself after this
post.

Hello everybody!
My name is Christian, I’m 30 years old, and I’m German. I’m working as a graduate student at the University of Tübingen, a small town in Southern Germany. I’m writing a dissertation about church music in the 16th century and, in my free time, I study languages as a hobby.
I have been learning Russian for three years now and I like it a lot. I started studying it, because I very much like classical Russian literature and I wanted to read it in Russian. Besides that, in my opinion, Russian is a very beautiful and important language.
Now, I’m reading "The Gambler" by Dostoyevsky with the help of a German translation and I hope that I will manage to improve the level of my reading and speaking skills this year. At the moment, I don’t speak badly, but I’d like to speak a bit more fluently.
I hope to learn a lot of new things with all of you. Good luck!
