I like the sound of Italian. However, any language can sound ugly or beautiful, depending on speaker and circumstances. The sound of drunks arguing in the street, for example, is ugly whatever the language.

I used to think that French was the most beautiful language in the world but now that I know it quite well it just sounds normal. However I still do fiund it beautiful when hearing a good actor perfoming a good audiobook, but even my native Spanish sounds great that way.

I used to think French was the most beautiful sounding language. Now, I'm much more picky about it. If it is a woman with a soft voice speaking French, then I still think it is beautiful but usually I find it annoying. I think Spanish is very beautiful but I think songs sound the best in English. I love Russian but I think German is one of the ugliest sounding languages, along with Mandarin Chinese.

I haven't read the whole thread (24 pages!), so I can't say if it has been said before, but I just wanted to throw Russian out there as well.
Of course it's not florid in the way French or Italian are, but I find the palatized (I hope that's the right word-I'm no linguist!) consonants of Д and Т to sound very calm and rich. Additionally, the fact that there is regular use of the Ж sound is nice, too. Of course, I'm just coming from studying German: a language which, in spite of all my interest, I cannot categorize as "beautiful".
Sure, I appreciate the sound of the romance languages and maybe I'll regret posting this if I start to get some strong negative opinions on this, but I'm just throwing it out there.

European: French, like everybody else..
THAI is the "French" of East Asia and sounds cool and sophisticated too (although personally I can't understand it at all).
The other major languages in E Asia that I am familiar with are not as gracious and beautiful sounding. However Thai always sounds charming and it has a stylish, cool, pretty, quirky culture too -- there is nothing not to like about it..
Why aren't there any Thai learners on this site?

Italian (spoken)
Polish (written)
And almost all other languages too, they all have their own beauty.
