Most people like to take a day off occasionally, and have to limit study times on some days. I'd settle for a less optimal app that takes those things into account.

But you can already do that with SuperMemo by simply not doing the repetitions. It'll be suboptimal, but so would anything else; that's my point. I still don't understand how what you're asking for is any different than what SuperMemo already offers.

Am I the only one finding it somewhat fascinating that people let a program take control over themselves, instead of the opposite? :)

Do you drive a manual transmission automobile, or do you let the machine take over control? The analogy could be passed on to just about any technology -- it is a personal choice to decide which systems, machines, programs, etc we trust to unload a portion of the work from ourselves.

I just got confused reading about all this "daily portion", "postpone" et.c. As furrykef said, you can take a day off by simply not doing the repetitions in SuperMemo (or any other program, even a "real" Leitner box). It is not the end of the world, but if somebody wants to program a new software with features (how about user settings such as: "diligent", "average", "lazy", "I'd rather not study"?) that some here seem to want, I'm sure there is a good chance to sell a few copies. ;)

Haha. Human psychology is a very complex thing.

From what I've read, it's more complicated than that; that is, it would be more sub-optimal than something that could be designed with the flexibility I'm suggesting. It has something to do with the extremely complicated algorithm. I'm just repeating what I've read elsewhere; I could certainly be wrong.

By the way, is there is a way to force a final drill in sm if one doesn't do all the day's reps?
