Trying to balance doing SRS entries with reading. The reading offsets the problems with the characters that slip through my memory like a sieve. That is of course in addition to the usual known benefits of reading. As mentioned before, I’m skimming/reading "The Hobbit". Since it was copied from an online site, am printing about 5 pages at a time and am writing notes on those. I won’t write in a bound book. The used Harry Potter book arrived (2nd one in the series). That is more difficult than "The Hobbit". Also dug out a children’s book, which I was warned, has some Taiwanese in it. Yesterday spent a lot of time on the www.hkbookcity.com site putting together a book order only find the cart empty after taking a break.....sooooo have to do that again.
BTW, there's 超級偶像 on YouTube for anyone interested in something like "American Idol".

My bad memory for characters is really rearing its’ ugly head. I’m trying to alternate SRS reviews with reading since the latter really helps. I’m less concerned now with trying to catch up; I’m very concerned about retention.
Posted something using traditional characters in response to a question. This was regarding one of my hobbies. A friend said that is an important step. I send the text to my overseas chat partner for corrections.
Ordered several books which will take a while to get here. I also discovered that flipping the YesAsia site to display characters can be counter productive. Once at the PayPal site, PayPal said the address on record did not match what the YesAsia site sent over.

Stumbled on this...it’s a Taiwanese show with tongue twisters and imitated voices. I got a big kick out of it and am investigating the show further.

Really enjoying the most recent SinoSpoon assignments. I don’t want to give away Khatz’s material as he’s got to make a living like everyone else... But I’m starting to understand why he puts the immersion environment first, before everything else. His idea of the immersion environment is so vastly different than anything else I’ve heard described for that before. He writes about it on his public site though you can be looking right at it and not “see” what he’s saying. In terms of covering the assigned material, I’m still behind though am not as concerned about that now. I can see why Khatz’s form of the immersion environment is going to carry me through.

Interesting. I looked at the Sinospoon entry on AJATT and wanted to sign up but apparently, there's no spot left right now. How much does it cost?

If you're interested, put your email addy on the waiting list. Khatz does waves where he opens registration for a few days (maybe a week?) and then closes it until the next time. Given a recent email, the next wave will open in a few days. I paid the full cost up front which total-wise is less than paying in installments. It was a bit under $5 daily for 695 days, a lump sum a little over $3,000 USD. Paying up front also forced me to fully commit, no wait-and-see mindset. BTW, you will have to factor in additional costs as Khatz regularly asks us to buy things such as movies, music, etc. I've purchased a fraction of what has been put forth but that’s mostly because I already have a lot of the things.

I just switched my iTouch to a language setting of traditional Chinese. That was to just see what it is like. Well there’s a touch screen to draw characters which I really like!
One of the things I’m trying to do is find email lists and forums on my hobbies.
I’m starting to get spam emails in Chinese, interesting.
