A little bit late with the update, as there were problems with Interenet, nevertheless:
Spanish - "Harry Potter y las Reliquias de Muerte" - listened up to the end (chapters 20-37) - read "Amanecer" by S.Meyer to the end (543 pages in total) - watched "Supernova - el Fin del Universo" - aunque me gustan las pelis fantasticas, esta no me gusto en absoluto. No soporto las pelis sobre maniacos, y cuando los maniacos aparecen in cosmos... Se trata de un hombre qien al encontrar un objeto estranio que, por lo visto, pertenecia a alguna civiliacion anciana, se convierte en un tipo invencible. Una nave cosmica le salva de una planeta abandonada, y el empieza a asesinar al gente alli. El objeto resulta ser una bomba que puede estallar como una supernova (such a transportable singularity), pero los heroes principales pueden liberarse del objeto y del asesino. German: - Assimil 67-69 Mandarin: - Pimsleur Mandarin Chineses III - 4-12; - studied new characters from the reader - this time there are lots of them, as the text abounds in descriptions such as 松树披着雪纱，还是坚强的站着。竹子穿上雪 衣，有的直立，有的弯腰曲背。What I like about Mandarin is that though it's concise it can be very poetic. Spanish: - watched the movie "Scanners" - llego a saber sobre scanners del log de Sprachprofi y estaba oliviada al enterarme que ella no pensaba en los personajes de esta peli cuando mencionaba scanners. Es le pelicula antigua del anio 1981. Aunque es una pelicula de horror, parece muy ingenua comparada con peliculas modernas. Claro que hay cabezas estalladas y sangre saplicada, pero ea un poco estranio ver armas grandes que pueden ser usadas para cazar un elefante y maquinas computadoras del tamanio de un armario corriente. Generalmente no veo las pelis de horror porque no duermo bien despues, pero esta no esta tan espantoso; - the cartoon "Como Entrenar a tu Dragon" - como vi la peli con mi hijo y tenia que explicarle de que trata, quienes son vikings y et cetera, puedo decir que no me hizo cargo de todo que decian. He notado que cuando veo la peli en ruso siempre hago alguna cosa en paralel, pero no puedo hazerlo con las pelis en lenguas estranjeras. Por otro lado, cuando veo pelis en espaniol o ingles, soy mas atenta, y por eso puedo retener en la memoria algunas cosas menores de qienes no hago caso con el ruso. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Update:
German: - Assimil 70-72 Mandarin: - Pimsleur Mandarin Chinese III - 13-15; - continued with story 4 from the reader; - Assimil 2 dialogues; - rearranged my Anky desk: deleted 500 old cards I knew well and added up to 572. I have to confess, I gave in to wanderlust. I started Italian. And I see it is eating up time from my other languages. Nevertheless, there's no way back. My resourses are "Assimil Italiano sin Esfuerzo" (yes, it's in Spanish!), Pimsleur, and then I'll add up ItalianPod Newbie. I give myself time to cover them by October. At first everything seems very easy, but it is interferes drastically with my other languages. Even Chinese! Every time I'm asked to safe a phrasein Pimsleur, Chinese is the first to come to surface. Needless to say, I always want to say "comprendo" intead of "capisco". So, - Pimsleur 1-3 - Assimil 1,2 This time I'm going to do Assimil the way it is suppoesed to be done (with other languages it's done in a way convenient to me), and I'll manage to estimate the effectiveness of the method. I'm tempted to swap out Italian for Spanish because I'll be escaping the German winter going to Argentina for two months next year. Maybe I should look for Assimil's Spanish course for Italian speakers, if such a thing exists, because so far I've always confused the languages badly. Thanks, Schprachprofi! Lucky you are! I guess, you have nothing to worry about, as when you find yourself amongst the native speakers, speaking only Spanish, your Italian won't interfere so much.

Thank you for your help, Fasulye, I was able to locate a copy.
Dragonfly, I just made a German vocabulary deck available through Anki's "Shared Decks". This new deck ("German vocab Lower Intermediate to Advanced") contains roughly 2200 cards and I believe it would be a good next step if you want to build on the vocabulary that Assimil taught you. Some of the words should even be familiar. As for declensions, do not pay attention to them until such time as you can comfortably talk about everyday things in German. At that point, focus on the key endings... Genitive: -es for masculine/neuter, -er for feminine; -er for plural (all genders) Dative: -em for masculine/neuter, -er for feminine; -en for plural (all genders) Accusative: -en for masculine/neuter, -e for feminine; -e for plural (all genders) As a rule of thumb, the first suitable word (usually "the", "a", "my", "this", ... but also an adjective if there is no other ending-bearer before) will get the key ending and anything else gets a bland -en ending.
