Liz, you can't quit! You're my inspiration, my muse, my guiding light. Any time I have doubts about what I'm doing I come here and read the latest. Your passion reignites me. What if I, in the absence of your encouraging progress, were to quit myself? Would you really want that on your conscience?

Good, glad we have that settled.

Agreed!

@Staf - Soon, yeah :-) If I did that right now, though, it would just be discouraging, so I think I need to get to a stable momentum again first before I do anything wacky. I'm not one of those output-as-soon-as-humanly-possible-preferably-before people (more on that later) so I'm ok with leaving it for a bit, but I definitely need to start focusing on the active side of things soon.

@Lingua - Cool, I didn't know you'd lived in Norway :-) No, I don't live in Oslo (hallelujah!). I'd rather not name the uni because I'm already paranoid about that sort of thing - the internet safety propaganda has successfully set up camp in my brain (probably a very good thing) - but I'm not in Oslo. Edit... See below.

And thanks for the support guys :-) I did say in my previous post that I'm not quitting, so you can expect more of the same. One of these days I'll learn to write in less elaborate terms, I promise... See, you'll develop a whole new appreciation for brevity this way. Incidentally, just hit 10 000 views today, maccas. Yikes. So I guess this is as good a time as any to start afresh, or whatever, with new enthusiasm.

Today has mostly been spent doing Sunday stuff, like watching Animal Planet (those SPCA guys are awesome), studying, and the superfun task of creating order in the chaos otherwise known as my university notes for this year. (Success!) I did do a bit of Italian - I found this thing on Youtube where they basically put two celebrities in a car and let them drive from Rome to Milan, taping everything of course, then editing the highlights into a more or less interesting 30-45 minute TV show. Actually kinda fun. And it's always useful to have access to long conversations of completely unfiltered Italian - there's slurring, there's gum, there's everything that separates real speech from language course audio. This is far beyond interview-level natural speech. Likey. Anyway, Rai seems to have a lot of good stuff up on Youtube, I've had a look at some of their videos before and it's a fabulous resource - endless native material. I should totally use that more. Actually, Youtube as a whole is just fantastic for language learning, the amount of videos out there is astonishing and it would've never occurred to me that there'd be that much on even just a few artists, and there's something for every level. I'm a firm believer in using native input from the very beginning, and there's a pretty good mix available, so I feel like whatever stage I'm at there's always stuff there that's manageable, and lots more beyond my current level that I can strive for. I bookmarked one of those today, we'll see in a few weeks or months if I can understand it any better than I could today.

Lastly: Liz. Girl. Stay away from the napoletano stuff, ja? You know this isn't good for you. Control yourself.

Liz

Er.. not to further fan the flames of your paranoia, but for anyone who knows the major centers of learning in Norway, I'd say it's impossible to miss which one you meant. :/

Actually, I knew nothing of Norwegian universities and within less than five minutes was able to get a good educated guess of the university. Just get a list of the universities of Norway and a map of Norway and you're all set.

Didn't say you couldn't figure it out, any person could, and I might one day go through everything I've posted in recent years on this forum and others to edit out stuff like this, but a search engine that only looks for the actual words and not a description, would have a harder time working that out based on what I wrote. That's all.

Actually, since you both insist, I'm just going to edit it out. Sorry, Lingua...

Hi, I'm curious about:

Wondering what napoletano stuff means in this context.

(sorry if it is obvious from your blog, I haven't read it until now).
