Kinan, be vigilant from now on. There is a proverb in Russian "Слово - не воробей, вылетит - не поймаешь (~ better to slip with the foot than with the tong)" The girls will try their best to prove you the opposite ;)

MODERATOR'S COMMENT:
Not in this place. If you make more disparaging remarks about women your account will be closed. I have removed your comments from this point on from Quabazaa's thread.

Kinan, I'll definitely follow your competition with the fair sex :)
Quabazaa, sorry for our off top. Looks like we spoilt your learning log with tons of junk.

Thanks a lot for “Waking life”. I’ve just finished watching it with about 80-90 comprehension and really enjoyed it. Although this figure also means that I must double my Anki activity to annihilate English at long last.:))
In fact any Philosophy outside Marxist’s rubbish was strictly prohibited in the former USSR under the Communists and there were very few materials available in Russian the first years after them. Owing to the market and the Internet the situation is improving gradually and much more materials (though less than one can expect) have appeared in Russian of late and at long last you can not blame Lenin for your ignorance.
But it has turned out that Philosophy is the most illusive things in the world. Even when you learn languages you know that you are slowly but inevitably moving to your goal. However when you learn Philosophy it is not that your are not progressing at all (you can be moving quite rapidly) but the goal is running from you by leaps and bounds along with your progress. So the chances of success are very small. Success here generally means that you can build up a more or less satisfactory model of yourself and Universe in your poor brain and act in accordance with it.
Therefore languages as a whole are a better thing to study because you can hope to enjoy the fruits of your labor in the long run. :))

As for the films, Fight Club is a good one ( I’m watching it right now). But you should not expect from girls watching only suchlike stuff. They are more interested in relationship, intercourse, communication than in «bare» thoughts, facts or acts. That is why they will be always watching serials, soap operas, etc. with extensive «trivial dialogs».
Certainly, they can easily pretend to share your tastes, but only in case they find it interesting for themselves. |

Tu quoque, dantalian!
Do I have to answer that? I think we all have a shallow side (and should in fact have one) but that doesn't preclude also being intellectual. Actually I suffered most of my life for being an 'intello' and 'living on another planet' so I find it sort of amusing how you two guys are trying to make me fit your ideal image of women. I don't know her, but I doubt Quabazaa is shallow or dumb either. I didn't see her writing: "I'm spending hours every week in intellectual pursuits so I can meet more boys from abroad!". Did you?
So yeah, I indulge in bar thought from time to time...
Edit: I'm keeping this typo because it's very Freudian.
Edit2: that typo was "bar thought" instead of "bare thought"
