This was easy to understand for me also, maybe a bit less because I only speak 2 Romance languages at the moment, and not perfectly, but from what I understood, Interlingua is some kind of a mix of all Romance languages, am I right? Anyway, I am not sure about learning such kind of language.
@ BartoG: Yes, thanks for the useful post, I might as well consider raising my level of seriousness in my studies of Spanish and proceed further.
And @ Iversen: Thanks for the tips, and I natively speak French, so it should be easier to learn more Romance languages in the future :).
Just a question: How many Romance languages is there in all? I know that considering minor languages/dialects might complicate this, but still?

It is absolutely not a simple question to answer. French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Romanian are beyond discussion, and since the demise of the Franco regime Catalan is probably also. Sardic is certainly a language, but it has something of the character of a dialect bundle with just a fragile written standard to unite it.
Occitan is also fragmented into dialects with at least two different writing systems and a very limited number of truly native speakers.
Romantsch can be from zero to at least three languages depending on whom you ask, and Aromanian is so far from Dacoromanian that it probably should be seen as an independent language.
Italy is also divided between a bewildering arry of dialects, and some see at least Sicilian and maybe the dialect bundle in the Po area as languages, - but the influence from standard Italian has steadily forced them to become less 'deviant'. By the way: Corsican is more like an Italian dialect (or a language in its own right) than it is a French or Occitan dialect.
On top of that there is the question of earlier stages of the modern languages and the extinct variants (of which Dalmatian has generally been accepted as an independent language). Personally I think that only Old French is so different from the modern version that you need to treat it as a different language. Plus maybe the extinct construct known as Franco-Provençal.
So you see, it is better not to be too preoccupied with formalistic divisions that don't concern you. The dialects are becoming more and more irrelevant for the average language learner, and just learning the main forms of the main languages is a daunting task for most people.

Interlingua is an international auxiliary language (IAL)(like esperanto) developed between 1923 and 1951 by the International Auxiliary Language Association (IALA). It is uses the most widely naturalistic IAL, in other words, its vocabulary, grammar and other characteristics are largely derived from natural languages. Interlingua was developed to combine a simple, mostly regular grammar(english) with a vocabulary common to the widest possible range of languages (latin+ international vocabulary)making it unusually easy to learn. Conversely, it is used as a rapid introduction to many natural languages.Educated speakers of English also enjoy this easy comprehension. The immediate comprehension of Interlingua, in turn, makes it unusually easy to learn. Speakers of other languages can also learn to speak and write Interlingua in a short time, thanks to its simple grammar and regular word formation using a small number of roots and affixes.Once learned, Interlingua can be used to learn other related languages quickly and easily, and in some studies, even to understand them immediately

Bravo' minus273
Le importante de le lingua es comprender le altere e facer comprender se mesmo
Interlingua pote aver aunque differentias proquè no?
Salutes
