For anyone interested in contemporary Irish music, or who is considering or already studying Gaeilge, I'd like to thoroughly recommend these great rock/pop compilations:

Ceol '09 (16 artists)
Ceol '08 (17 artists)
Ceol '07 (31 artists)
Ceol '06 (26 artists)

They're all in Irish and performed by some excellent well-known Irish bands, either as originals or translated from English. They're available world-wide via online stores such as HMV or ITunes (that's where I got mine), and there's a new collection being put together right now and due to be released later this year (Ceol '10)!

These albums are produced once a year by Seachtain na Gaeilge (SnaG), a non-profit organisation that aims to promote the Irish language during a two week festival every year, held in the weeks leading up to Saint Patrick's Day. All acts give their time free of charge, and profits go to the charity Concern, which provides emergency humanitarian aid and development aid to fight extreme poverty in developing countries such as Mozambique and provide crucial relief in cases such as the recent Haiti Earthquake disaster.

I've been listening to The Coronas: ÉIst a Ghrá, agus, Heroes and Ghosts (but in Irish.)
They're really good. I think I'll buy the Ceol '06-09!!
Irish was one of my first languages but I haven't used it since I was super young, around 3 or 4 years old! So I want to re-learn it! I'll start this summer.
Music is great motivation to learn a language.
