I wrote these three posts here for Blindsheep but thought they might be useful to other people so here they are, this isn't meant to be an inclusive guide of everything just like I said in the title a little starting point for German tv, film, music and comedy =)

Arrrggghhh, sorry man I completely forgot about my promise to show you some free German media! I wrote this before in an email to a friend:
"And if you want some free (and legal) sources of German media.....
www.tvnoir.de - This is an awesome German tv show that's actually run in Berlin if you wanna pop by ^^ It happens on the first Sunday of every month and then the first part comes out online a week later, and then the second part the week after. It's really nicely run, pretty chilled and has helped me so much in finding GOOD German music which is a harder task than you might think ;)
http://www.southpark.de This link only works inside Germany, Switzerland and Austria but here you can legally stream all the episodes of South Park in perfect quality for free =)
http://www.myspass.de/ You can watch lots of German comedy here though some of it's in dodgy quality (both content and video size ^^). I would recommend you to check out Quatsch Comedy Club (a tv show where several guest stand up comedians come in each episode), Nightwash (a similar type of production but that always takes place in a laundrette to be more intimate with the audience ^^ this tends to take unknown comedians and has led to the discovery of some pretty big names like Mario Barth and Hennes Bender), Eckart von Hirschhausen live (a comedian that also tackles interesting psychological ideas), Stromberg (German version of The Office), Zwei Weihnachtsmänner and last but defintely not least Dr. Psycho which is really nicely put together. I don't know if all of these work or are in good quality on the website but I can confirm that all these shows are awesome ;)
Other sources of media that I haven't used as much but could be useful for you (I have German tv channels half the year and mostly watch DVDs) are the websites of the main tv channels:
http://www.rtl.de/ - I don't like this channel much at all, but they do occasionally have nice shows. They tend to go down the X Factor type route (Deutschland sucht den Superstar) and similarly crappy shows but I'm sure some of the shows there will be better ;)
http://www.daserste.de/ - varied and decent quality tv
http://www.zdf.de/ - I have actually used this one quite a bit and you get some nice shows, some terrible ones too but large variety and a lot of on demand television."
I hope it helps!!

Recommended German comedians:
Dieter Nuhr: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtVt5G8OuKk This is a stand up show that you can't buy so I thought it should be ok to watch it online =) I bought his 5-pack of CDs of his different stand-up shows which I found awesome!
Hennes Bender: http://www.myspace.com/hennesbender This guy is amazing!!!! I used to listen to his album "Egal gibt's nicht" all the time on Spotify but it doesn't work in Switzerland =( But yeah definitely recommended!!
Michael Mittermeier: http://www.mittermeier.de/ I haven't heard so much from this guy but what I have heard had me laughing on the floor! On my to-do list ;) (All the stuff on the website atm seems to be about his new book so check out the youtube videos)
Mario Barth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeLwGhBwkA0 Really, really well know comedian,he has his own tv show though I've mostly only seen his stand-up which is pretty nice.
This should be a nice starting point for a few laughs in German =)

Thanks for this massive collection of very useful resources for German learners! I moved
the topic to a subforum better suited for it. :)

No problem and thanks for the move!
I always thought that something like this would have made the beginning stages of my German immersion stage much nicer instead of having to listen to "99 Red Balloons" 24/7 while I found everything else xD So hopefully this thread might save some others the same pain and agony of trying to immerse yourself in German full time with only about 30 mins worth of German media :P

By the way some useful links for for finding good German films/comedy/music:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_bedeutender_deutscher_Fil me
http://www.deutsche-filmakademie.de/fpsuche.html
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutscher_Comedypreis
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echo_%28Musikpreis%29 - I don't like the taste of this one that much but everythings subjective so maybe you'll like it more =)
http://tvnoir.de/ - I know I mentioned this one before but this resource is sooo awesome and it helped me find lots of good music, though their videos are better organised on their youtube and vimeo (where you can also download most of the shows) accounts =)
If you want to get hold of the films the only legal ways I know are from amazon.de, lovefilm.de (online rental, though I don't have anything to compare the prices too so check out the local places first) and iTunes. Only problems with these are that lovefilm.de only works inside of Germany and for iTunes you need either a credit/debit card with a German billing address or iTunes vouchers bought in Germany or online by someone who has a credit/debit card with a German billing address (I pay my German friends to do this for me ^^).
