I spotted it for 15 bucks on polish ebay and I bought it for a gift but unfortunately I was cheated. I got the cassettes and two books - textbook and written exercises, but no handbook.
My course is from 1993. The only available handbook online right now is from 1982.
Do you happen to know if this one will match the remaining parts from 93? I have an old German Linguaphone course and the only differences between that and the new version are some vocabulary items (cassettes instead of records for example). It's another 50 USD so I'd rather make sure, though.
Thanks in advance.

I would guess they are the same. How many cassettes are in your course? If the text follows the general trend about this is a gramophone (tape recorder) and this is a record (cassette) then they are almost certainly identical.
I don't have the Polish Linguaphone but most of the older courses follow the same general trend. They changed from records to cassettes but the books remained the same.
I have an old Italian course with ancient 78rpm records but I was able to copy the audio taken from cassettes and they match. The books are the same for both.

It has six tapes in total, 5 numbered and 'getting started'.
Gramophone/records are among the first words you learn.
I think I'll go for it and order that overpriced handbook.
Thank you fanatic.

My Polish linguaphone is from early 80's I think (but only has 4 cassettes). If you want to post some samples of the dialogues from some mid to late lessons I can compare with my copy :)

Agata Wójtowiczówna: Dziś będziemy kupować upominki dla rodziny Borysa. Jędrek proponuje jakieś ludowe wyroby. Zaczniemy więc od sklepów "Cepelii". Wstąpimy też do sklepu z upominkami, a potem pójdziemy do salonu "Desy".

this lesson is amazing ;) it makes me think of a recent thread "how communists taught English".

Well Kubelek, happy to say that the 1981 imprint looks the same with the exception of the number of tapes since I only have the 4 numbered ones. It's a great course, but wow.. another $50 for the handbook is amazing!

Thanks for your help.
