I recently purchased Le Roumain sans peine/Romanian with ease, believing the book was included (it was used, an online purchase). Of course, when I got it, the book wasn't there, the seller refuses to give me at least some of my money back, etc. The CDs are in great shape but absent the book I'm sort of lost. Does anyone know of a way to get Assimil books alone other than from France? I want to avoid paying for a new set if I can just get the book by itself.

Go to Assimil.com, select "Catalogue", search for the course you want, select the book-only version, then copy the ISBN into Amazon.fr or AbeBooks.
For Le Roumain sans peine it is 9782700501452.

There used to be a PDF file available of the book, Le Roumain sans peine, but I believe it was the older version, very small file, 5MB or so. I used to have it but deleted it, sorry. :( If you look around online you might find it or maybe someone here might still have a copy they could email to you. Good luck!

Are you looking for the French based or Italian based course?

I have to admit to some skepticism when I read these stories of courses with missing books.
A quick search indicates that the audio files for Le Roumain sans peine are available for (presumably illegal) download, but the book itself is not. I have to wonder if at least some of the posters are just trying to get the entire course for free.
It is good to see more people take an interest in Romanian, along with other less-studied languages. But this is not the way to go.
