Thanks for the feedback Andrew C. I have to admit that I really didn't give the pronunciation guide much thought -- I will endeavor to fix that. I was hoping to find an audience of Arabic students who already have a basic understanding of the phonetics and phonology of Arabic. Using this background, they could then incorporate mnemonics to help improve their vocabulary retention. I'm pleased that you had a look at my books. As you know the most difficult thing about interlingual mnemonics is that nothing is ever a perfect "word association" match. Some are easy: "Winter is shit[a]" Others are more difficult -- I think my mnemonic for "sanctions" was "out of cuba" or something to that effect. The most important thing about mnemonics is that they don't have to be perfect...as long as they help you remember the word (or phrase).
If you'd be interested in helping me tighten up my book even further, I'd be happy to send you a complimentary copy. I have a passion for languages...so my goal with these books is not to sell a million copies (although that would be nice) it is to help other life-long students (like myself) to improve their language capability.
Thanks again for the feedback! I really do appreciate it.

I like the idea of your book, but the layout looks like you've done it yourself. You may want to have it reworked by a DTP specialist. In particular, the font that you chose for the transliterations is ill-suited for this purpose.
Speaking of transliterations, you may want to double-check them as well. I just had a quick look at the Amazon sample pages of volume 2 and noticed at least two errors on page 258:
الإستراتيجية al-istraatijiya (missing i in transliteration)
سكرتيرة sekratera (missing ة in Arabic)
BTW, there's a Swiss calligrapher who created a similar dialect based Arabic-German book with really nice mnemonic illustrations. Maybe you could have him make custom drawings for your books.

Thanks for that. I would love to hire a DTP specialist and the calligrapher does indeed do great work. Frankly though, unless a major publisher takes on my books...I don't have the resources to pay for much more than I've already expended. I purchased a license to use the images contained in the book...and I did do the layout myself. That being said, the costs have really been adding up. If you have any ideas of where I could go to obtain an agent and/or a willing publisher...I'm all ears.
One great thing about this adventure is that it led me to this website. It is nice to find folks with similar interests and backgrounds regarding foreign language study.

I'm sorry to hear that and wish you good luck with your sales.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about book publishing.
Have you tried contacting Stone Bridge Press who published Michael Rowley's popular Kana Pict-o-Graphix and Kanji Pict-O-Graphix books, which are similar in concept?
Also it couldn't hurt to directly contact HTLAL member DavidW, who has a small publishing business in the UK, and plans to publish some bilingual Arabic/English readers. See this thread for details. Your content might fit his portfolio and he could probably improve the layout.
Good luck!
