I've been ill over these last couple of days, and so have put this little project on pause in the meantime, but hope to be able to get back into work and study tomorrow.

Поправляйся скорее!

(I'm not sure if that's right; I just used Google Translate, but it's supposed to say "Get well soon!")

Spasibo for the kind wishes, ellasevia.

I seem to have picked something nasty up whilst swimming in the sea in Barcelona, which has left me partially deaf with excruciating continuous tinnitus and fevers. Unfortunately I had to see a specialist this weekend, as things have become a lot worse over this last week rather than better as I initially hoped.

So it looks like I won't be going to Russia after all, despite having already paid a handsome fortune for the visa and tickets, which is really quite gutting. I'll also have to put everything else on hold in the meantime, including work and even language studies, until I get better.

Generally feeling sad and helpless about it all and for encountering such a stroke of bad luck when everything was going so well...

Take my best wishes, too. You know, in the end even the bad things are good for something. (OK, this is stupid, but I can't find anything better; hope you don't feel even worse now ;-)

I agree. An admittedly trivial, but valid, example of this is when in October I accidentally deleted all of the vocabulary lists I had been saving on my computer for several years. After I was able to retrieve them, I started a process of reviewing through all of them, which eventually led me to discover Anki, which has greatly benefited my language learning.

I hope you feel better, Teango. Maybe if you get well quickly you'll still be able to go to Russia. Let's all wish Teango good health!

Get well soon, from someone who's been following your language learning with great
interest. Will you still be able to go to Russia if you get better over the next few
days?

Life's so unfair sometimes. Sorry to hear you got sick.

Just to try finding another positive angle: You can take this time as a mid-TAC break, where you can look back at the baffling progress you've had earlier this year, while accumulating inspiration that you can use as soon as your health and energy returns.

Hope you get well soon.

How sad for you! I really hope you will be feeling well enough to make your trip, and if not have a few days feeling sorry for yourself as you deserve them for this stroke of bad luck.
