Can I open a main language log, not necessarily related to a year? I'd like to start a log here to motivate myself, but seeing as it's almost 2012, I don't know if it would be allowed.
My languages would be Modern Hebrew and Latin. |

Of course -- you're free to open a personal language log for yourself whenever you like. It's only if you want to be part of a given year's TAC that you would have to worry about the timing.

OMG I've been hanging around at landcomms and I didn't know there's this stuff here! so shiny!
I'll do it next year and I'd love to be in a multilingual team (like Italian/German or say Spanish/Indonesian or anything involving languages I study)... when are the teams formed? :)))

I'm also curious about when the 2012 TAC team formation will start, and when we'll vote
on the winner(s) of this year's challenge. Perhaps at the end of the current 6WC...?

I'm guessing the new thread will be started soon, since there's only a month left in the year now. It always seems to
begin in early December. For some reason, starting a new TAC always gets my engines fired up! Maybe it's silly,
but I can't wait for January 1st! :) 2012 will be my 3rd TAC, and most likely the one when I finally reach fluency in
Japanese!

Anyone who would like to volunteer for organizing the 2012 TAC is free to start a thread whenever they like, but sometime soon would probably be best. Unfortunately I won't be able to organize the teams or the challenge again next year, but I will be happy to explain what needs to be done to anyone wishing to help out.
Sometime around the middle of December I'll update the thread of people who are still in the challenge and then open it up to voting for teams. Just one month left!

I'd like to join, could someone please make the rules clear for a newbie like me? I have read a few posts but I didn't catch a few points there.
How does the winner get chosen? Someone/a team who stays active till the end and has most impressive results by other participants?
How do you join a team? They are sorted by your main language?
Are there any rules concerning the choice of languages like for exemple in 6wc?
Thanks

2011 was my first TAC, so I don't know about choosing the winners, but I can answer your other questions. To join a team, keep your eye out for the Team TAC 2012 post that should be going up soon. This year teams were formed based on one of your languages, but I don't know if it's like that every year. And there are no rules concerning your choice of languages. You can study as many languages and whatever languages you like. The Team TAC is just for motivation and perhaps a bit of friendly competition. :) I hope that helps!
