I'm definitely up for it!
My goals:
French - B1 -> C1, and in particular improve my speaking competence as it's still my weakest area by far. I'd definitely like to take an exam at some point, probably the B2 in June.
Italian - beginner -> intermediate (I'm probably A1/A2 right now; reaching B1 would be cool, or even B2).
French is going to be my main focus for the first half of the year, after which I'll evaluate my priorities based on how much progress I've made and what my main desire is at the time (get really good at French, or get decent at Italian?).
I also plan to start German and/or Spanish, but I'm not sure enough about that to make it a TAC goal. Maybe next year!

ellasevia, thank you for taking the initiative in forming the teams. If there’s anything I can do to help please let me know.
I would like to join a team as well. My main target language will be French. I’m currently at an A2/B1 level and my main goal is to get my passive skills up to a B2/C1 level by October 2011.
I’m also studying English at university and I hope to find a way to improve my speaking skills. I’d say my passive skills and writing are at a C2 level (though I still need to work on my vocabulary) but my speaking is probably only at a C1 level so I need to work on that.
Then there are Arabic and German. I’ll be starting on Egyptian Arabic as a complete beginner and it probably won’t be more than a side-language for fun. I’m not sure what my exact goal is. Reaching A1/A2 in speaking and listening would be cool.
I plan to have started on German before the year is over but I don’t have any clear cut ambitions here either. Reaching some kind of fluency in listening and writing seems like an attainable goal, with enough immersion.
Of course, I’d also be happy to help any Dutch learners in any way I can.

I'm quite new to this so I will have to do so some reading to get myself up to speed on
how this works. Can you briefly explain how the challenge works or point me in the right
direction? Much obliged.

Hey. I'd like to be added to the Mandarin list. My goals are probably different than everyone else: instead of
A1/B1/C1 etc., I'll be aiming to write the proficiency test for Chinese at my university. I want to be placed in the
third level Chinese class. In order to prepare, I want to learn at least 3,000 characters, be able to understand a
typical Taiwanese drama and make myself understood in Mandarin. No idea where that would fall on the spectrum.
After some deliberation, I would like to be added to the French list as well. Mandarin will be my core focus but an
extracurricular activity that I'm involved in will entail my reading documents in French. As well, I hope to go to
university in Montreal and become fluent in French, so over the summer I'll be studying a fair bit of French and in
the fall I'll have some excellent opportunities to practice.
Mandarin will definitely take priority over French

Hi there!
I'd like to be added to the Russian list. I'm pretty sure I'm somewhere between A1 and A2 (I only started learning this summer and I barely touched it all semester!)so I guess I'm gonna try to reach B2 this year.
I'd also like to be on the list for Italian.I'm not super interested this, but I learned it in school for a while, and I feel I ought to make myself a bit more fluent. I'm currently around B1, and I'd like to get to B2!

Lianne – Do you want to be listed for Toki Pona as well? I was unsure as to whether you will be continuing to study that in 2011.
Solfrid Cristin - I was unsure whether you wanted to be added to the German, Italian, and/or French lists as well. Shall I do that?

I suppose I should be listed for Toki Pona as well. Even if I do know all the basic words by January, it's not like I'll be fluent at that point. So, three languages it is! :) Also, I initially only wanted to do the individual one, but Solfrid Cristin pointed out to me that there's no reason for me not to do the team one, so let's do it!

Whoa, it's 2011 already? I guess before I apply for the next season I have to write an
assesment of the last year's failure to stick to my resolutions ;)
