This was a language video I really liked. In his multi-language video he used the same languages I know, so it was easy to evaluate, and he has a really good level. His pronunciation was very good in all his languages, and I did not catch any mistakes, so all in all very well done. I would definitely like to hear more from him, and I wish there were more polyglots like this.
While respecting everyones approach to learning languages, I am personally much more impressed by someone who speaks 5 languages really well (and as far as I can see has a fair knowledge of a numbre of others) than of someone who claims to know 50 languages, but only knows a little in each. Is it? If somebody learns something quickly, it is admirable that they have gained rapid results. Yet, if something has learned more slowly, I find it just as admirable that they stuck with it for as long as it took, when many others would have given up. 9 persons have voted this message useful | ||||||

Robert presented at least 7 languages in his videos. He can obviously make rapid progress in his language acquisition. In the case of Japanese, he presents us with an intermediate knowledge. I've met a lot of people who have reached that level over the course of several years; I'd like to know how long it took a gifted polyglot like him. Learning languages may not be a race, and keeping motivation over time is indeed a challenge, but if someone reached intermediate level in 10 years, I won't be buying his book on how to learn a language. 1 person has voted this message useful |
