I just ordered 3 seasons of Friends from Amazon.de and I came pretty close to grabbing 2 of these books, but the price of €18.50 each made me think twice.

I was wondering if you can tell me how you use these books, or for what purpose? Do you use them to actually learn German, or do you use them just to test yourself to know that you are the appropriate level?

Derek

I'm rather late coming into this challenge but I'm also learning German through self study and I started at the end of July.

I'm using the BBC Deutsch Plus course with CDs because I had this on my bookshelf.

I'm also using the excellent DW resources. I've finished listening to Mission D and currently am just completing the exercises. I've nearly completed the first series of Deutsch, warum nicht? I'm also using Deutsch Interactiv and as of yesterday the Audio Tutor.

Yesterday I found that I can access an online learning system called Mango free through my library so I've started this. It seems quite good and complementary to the other learning resources.

I've also been borrowing some simple readers from the library to extend my vocabulary. I'm currently reading my third Felix und Theo.

The other thing I started yesterday was using a website offering German flashcards.

I did a couple of years of German at secondary school years ago so I'm not coming at it totally cold but I'm now wanting to see what I can achieve for myself.
