I am trying to find some news or talk radio stations for Japanese and Mandarin Chinese but I am having trouble finding a good station. Does anyone listen to news or talk radio in Japanese or Mandarin Chinese? I'd really like to find a station with as little music as possible so I can get a good feel for the language.

For Japanese, there's NHK Online.

I realize you asked for radio stations, but this website (http://beelinetv.com/) has
links to multiple television stations with a multitude of languages (Including Japanese
and Chinese) that may be of interest.
Most of them are either news or sports stations.
I hope that helps.

Check out http://listen.rbc.cn/ which has multiple radio stations out of Beijing. Somewhere I've got links for Mandarin stations out of Taiwan and Singapore....if I find those, will post them.

And for Mandarin, there's the Mandarin version of NHK World Radio.
It's a daily half-hour news podcast that gives an overview of global current events—like BBC World Service, except from the Japanese government and in Mandarin.

Thanks, nway, I really like the NHK Radio World for Chinese. Now I have another Chinese channel to listen to.

If you have an ipod or iphone, an app called TuneIn Radio gives you access to quite a few Chinese and Japanese radio stations (and lots of other languages/countries as well). I really love this app because it has a record function, so if I happen to come across something interesting, I can hit record and listen multiple times.
There's also KeyHole TV for live Japanese TV and radio stations.
