If you need any help with Dutch, let me know. My German isn't bad but I doubt I can teach you anything there, haha...

Hallo alle zusammen!
Seit langem bin ich hier :/.

So some excuses first:
1. I've had exams (Semesterklausuren)
2. I've started a new semester, and hence, new classes.
3. I've been figuring out a lot of stuff lately, so STRESS.

I will give a short lowdown on the little changes and progress I've made, just to show I'm still in this for the
win.

Deutsch:
I had to take 2 different levels of German examinations. Since I take an independent study in German 5, my
teacher had me take the level 3 and 4 exams, giving me about the same amount of time to complete both,
that the other levels would have to complete one. This was rather fun, and leaving the exam I was thinking in
German, which is a good sign. I've done some light reading of some books, but nothing too serious. I just
want to get back into the swing of things with my independent study, so I can hit two birds with one stone
regarding work.

Русский:
I feel so guilty for ignoring much of my Russian studies for this amount of time. I've done Anki here and
there, but nothing more than that. I feel good about this week though, and I hope to make a final push to
about lesson 26 in the PRC. I've started my dialog book, which I will use as my own little "Assimil." It's a pain
in the arse to write out EVERYTHING by hand, so I might type it up and tape the printouts in my little
notebook.

Norsk:
I started my Norwegian Anki! I've also been toying with Danish a little bit (I KNOW IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA :),
just as a little fun side project. I've been reading Scandinavia and the World (a fun little comic with the three
Scandi countries as characters, each of them showing off stereotypes of their respective country) and I
decided I look a bit like a stereotypical Dane, with the tousled blond hair and the preference for a relaxed and
chill lifestyle ;). My pronunciation in Danish is actually not that bad, but I decided that I really like Norwegian
a little too much. Plus I don't think I could ever understand an actual Dane speaking, whereas I can
understand a good amount of what Swedes and Norwegians say. I'm also becoming a little more pumped up
for Norwegian. I don't know particularly why, but I like to rattle off and say a few things in Norwegian
randomly. I don't understand what it is, but I just like it.

Español, עברית:
Unfortunately I did not get around to Spanish or Hebrew in my absence.

Suomi: I feel really guilty about doing so, but I printed out the workbook and textbook pages for both
the pronunciation section and unit 1 of FSI Finnish, and I've been toying around with it. I also learned how to
sing this Finnish song that goes really really fast called Ievan Polkka :). I love how the words roll off my
tongue. I've also been listening to this Finnish drinking song called Juomalaulu. I don't know why I just love
drinking songs, so if anyone knows anymore good Finnish, Norwegian, Russian, or German drinking songs,
I'd be ecstatic :).

I'm supposed to start applying next year :D.

Goede keuzes!

Cool :)! I'd love to hear more about what you think of the school and whatnot. Which year are you in? I would
prefer to go to Amsterdam, mainly because I'm a city person, although Leiden is very pretty. I really want to
study Russian and/or Arabic, although I don't know about the policy of double majors in European schools.

Awesome! I haven't really done anything with Dutch yet this year, and I probably won't for a while, but I'll
definitely take note of that.

No need to feel guilty...January/February always tends to be stressful time of the year where so many other things just get in the way. The key thing is that you're still managing to fit in a bit of study here and there, and I'm sure you'll make excellent headway once all these other stresses calm down and give you a little more space to breath.

Thanks you guys :)!
Well considering this week has been a living hell, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one experiencing
such stress. I have so much to do, and I have to start training for work tomorrow so I'm going to have even
less time. The good thing is, I have a weeklong break starting on the 18th. During that time, I will be in the
sun and sand in Miami, Florida, so I hope to be tanning and listening to German and Russian audiobooks
simultaneously. It will definitely be a nice break from living in such a cold place, and it would be a great
opportunity to practice my Spanish with all the Cuban locals :).

Sorge darum. Ich bin sicher, ich komme darin gut weg.

Now a little about the minimal study I accomplished this week:

Deutsch:
Other than my test, I'm glad to say that I've made some headway in Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen. I
wrote down a few questions with intent on speaking to my German teacher about them, as well as looked up
some unfamiliar constructions I encountered. With that said, I did almost no other study this week. I've not
met with my German teacher for LEARNING purposes in a while. I've been either taking exams or taking
exams or taking exams or talking about how tired we both are. I hope to meet with her on Wednesday. I want
to read a news article and write a little something something about it, but I don't know if I'll have time this
weekend, because I have to read half of Pride and Prejudice by Monday :/.

Русский:
I didn't really do much with Russian, but I'm hoping once my break starts next week, I can dive in headfirst
and just consume as much Russian as possible.

עורית and Español and Norsk
Once again...nothing.

Polski
I'm such a troll. I don't have time for my other languages but I have time to have a small conversation with my
Polish friend. We talked about her new piercing and her dad's reaction for a bit and then it was back to
English to talk about our Asian Studies class. It was just a nice conversation to try and remember some Polish
:).

Okay so other than the minimal little bits and pieces, nothing got done this week. I'm very tired, it's almost 4
AM, and I'm running on the sleep I got from my 6 hour afternoon nap. I still have to study for my math test
that's 1st period.

Joyous.

Hopefully next week will bear more fruit.

Derek out.

So there haven't been many updates for a while.

I don't have much to report, other than that languages are going extremely slow in my life right now. I'm
planning on having an "Immersion day" in German after my SAT on Saturday, and I'm doing a focus day for
Russian on Sunday, to not only catch up on stuff but to push ahead a bit further.

Sorry you guys, school and life sucks :P.
