The new challenge starts on February 1st, as expected. The bot is now ready to accept
sign-ups.
Tweet something like "@6WCBot I want to #register to study #Esperanto intensively in
February. #HTLAL user; working #full-time."
Full-time = that's how long you're busy with things other than languages.
Keep in mind that your main target language has to be a weak one - not better than
lower intermediate level. You may however submit the work you do on other languages as
well.
If you're not familiar with the idea yet, read
this explanation or ask someone who
scored well previously. The
leaderboards for previous 6 Week Challenges can be found
here .
The main page is now tracking sign-ups and scores for February.
If you would like to be part of a group of people studying the same language, consider
#Esperanto or #Finnish. From the planning thread and things people have told me
personally, it sounds like there will be a decent-sized group studying Esperanto this
time. As for Finnish, February is the time for the Accelerated Challenge
( http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?T ID=30352),
exactly 45 hours in 30 days, so at least for the start of the challenge there should be
some people logging Finnish hours.
Good luck and have fun!

Yes, it will be great fun!
I'll take you up on Finnish, which I've never studied or even have any learning materials
for. Whether accelerated or not I do not yet know. I guess I'll do Assimil.

Great! I've been looking forward it since the last challenge ended. I'm doing French again, it's still lower intermediate. I can't wait until February :)

I will be joining in. In the spirit of comparing the effectiveness of language learning methods here is my 6W Challenge profile
Time: I work full time, so I cannot commit more than a few hours a day, at most.
Language: Arabic
Start level: Lowly beginner, less than 15 hours studied to date, mostly over the script. Vocab is perhaps 10 words. I have some understanding of the script and almost nothing about the grammar.
Method focus:
60%+ Assimil (passive-then-active),
20%+ Anki cards,
<20% - the remaining will be podcasts (Arabicpod101 plus whatever else I find), possibly Living Language or Al Kitaab
Self-perception of language learning ability: I probably under-rate myself but I do not think I am a rapid or highly effective learner - despite knowing several languages and having a light grasp of others, learning is hard work for me!
Let me know if anyone else is doing Arabic and we can compare results and methods used!
Have a great challenge!

I'm going to do French. I have purposely not studied to much to see how much I can do in
this.
Time: I'll try full time, maybe an hour on weekdays, 4 hours on weekends
Language: French
Level: Low beginner, about 4 hours studied to date.
Method Focus: Song lyrics, movies

I'll join, even though I will trully start a week later. I have already said that the next 6wc I'd participate in would be Esperanto and I still think it is a good idea. How many Esperantists to be will be in?
To provide info like in the posts above:
level: none, I've just read a bit about Esperanto and briefly looked at the grammar to see what can I expect.
method: lernu. There is enough to use that I shouldn't need anything else during the 6wc.
goal: to see how far can I get in the "easy language" during 6 weeks. I am curious.

I'm in with Indonesian!
and I have a question about the bot, so the languages have to be in different tweets, but what about different activities? say for Tadoku I can tweet "5 #es #book; 2 #es #lyric; 4 #es #news". I know the format is different but can I combine activities like that or should there be separate tweets for everything I do?
So excited<333 that will be my first 6WC of this kind, after the ones with Yiddish and Esperanto FIVE years ago. OMG.
