Thanks for all your guesses! None of them were right. I took Arabic, because it was the
only language course I could take with such a busy timetable. I actually wanted to
learn Arabic one day too, but not as early as "now". The choices were: Russian advanced,
Swedish A2, Chinese beginner, Arabic beginner or Romanian beginner (which was not
offered this term). The material requested is "Salam! Arabisch für Anfänger A1 - A2. Lehrbuch + CD".
I'd love to learn all languages you mentioned, but unfortunately there are no courses
available at my university - in this case for Japanese, Danish, Norwegian, Polish and
Icelandic. With Swedish I am able to understand a little bis of Danish and Norwegian.
My goal is the B2 Swedex Certificate (there is no C1 by now).

Sounds good! Arabic is not on my immediate hitlist, but it will be good fun! Any dialect
you want to focus on?

Not really. I still don't know where the teacher comes from...

The next level
This week I bought my Arabic book, and also "Tala Svenska A2+" to continue learning
Swedish by myself. Two days ago I got a message from my former Swedish teacher, to go on
with lessons via Skype. I'm excited about bringing forward my Swedish knowledge to A2+!

Arabic
I started learning Arabic from scratch two weeks ago. Currently I have no time to
continue learning Swedish aside, so I'll just let it be, and enroll for the next Swedish
course next term.
Learning Arabic has been fun and I'm amazed about the language's richness. I don't know
all the letters yet, but at least we learned to introduce ourselves ;-)

Slow progress, no progress
Have I told you already that I love learning Arabic? I haven't lost my motivation
(yet), but I've noticed that I start to feel frustrated with the situation. Our teacher
is veeery patient with everyone in this course, and we're just doing very little
progress.
What we've done so far: basic expressions ("Hello, I'm Blaaah", "Goodbye", "Bless
you!"), a (very!) little bit of vocabulary, almost no grammar (personal pronouns for I,
you [male + female], he and she), and the numbers from 0 to 10.
We've been having lessons for about a month already, but we still didn't learn all
letters!!! (12 letters + basic use of short vowel marks)
Isn't that frustrating??? :-(((

Stopped
I decided to quit going to my language course. Hopefully I'll soon find a better
possibility to learn more Arabic.
In the next few weeks I'd like to focus again on Dutch and Swedish...

TAC 2013
I'm happy to announce that I've joined the Scandinavian Team Viking.
Next year I want to reach a good B2 level in Swedish and Dutch.
Stay tuned for more info! :-)
