Me too! At least it's Europeans in my case...
Having to think hard of why exactly someone is disappointed/annoyed is far more humiliating than hearing it directly from them. To use an appropriate comparison, it's like a language teacher correcting your mistakes but not explaining them and letting you find out yourself what was wrong.
