No resolutions, I don't believe in resolutions.

We are well into January and I haven't made a goal yet !
That's not because I don't want to. I simply can't, not yet. I'm trying. So I'm just going to say that my goal is to continue studying the languages I have, as much as possible. Stay with the forum and read and write here. A sentence a day if it has to be that slow, as long as it's something. I've been working on review but I am not retaining anything much that's new at all. Passive listening is still functional, at least. My concentration and memory are not cooperating, even in English. It's very frustrating. Lowest goal ever. It's below sea level low. I really feel like an underacheiver right now. In a few weeks or months I hope to be able to get to something more specific. I never liked New Year goals or resolutions, anyway. It's only a date. My goal is to finish my 2012 challenge, which I obviously did not complete: reach C2 level Norwegian. I hope it's feasable, what with hoping to graduate cum laude and doing a PhD after that. I am also going to work on my French and hopefully reach B1 level or higher with an intermediate course at my university. No promises, though. I am too ambitious for my own good :).

-Improve my Spanish with regards to accent - both my spoken accent and ability to understand different ones (any of the "voseo" countries are tough for me right now). Make my way through some more native sources, especially books. Move somewhere with more people, so I can actually do fun things to use my Spanish :) I'm thinking Tango lessons?
-Improve my Portuguese speaking, especially pronunciation. Portuguese might become my primary focus, depending on how my plans work out. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

My grand plan for 2013:

I am going to take a half-year intensive course in Swedish starting next month, so I am resolving to start speaking/using only Swedish whenever possible once it starts (ignoring non-Swedish speaking friends and websites etc. except if I get messages somewhere) because otherwise there might be too much active studying needed to pass. Even though I am not exactly fluent in Swedish, I still noticed it is easier to use the language if you use it all day and don't switch languages (especially I noticed I need to start out in the morning with it).
I think I am going to start LR-ing Japanese at the same time as my Swedish course starts, then I can ignore the internet but still get a nice break from Swedish, and feel very accomplished. I was thinking of LR-ing Swedish instead but I also think that might be too much Swedish for me (it would be completely different if I loved Swedish but err, no), we shall see. Also I really should learn how to roll my r's and make various other sounds this year. I want to have one bilingual Icelandic-English book done before the Swedish course starts, and have something else teaching-related made such as finishing my Faroese textbook or making some good wordlists or something, after the course ends and before 2014. As for my goals for 2014, I will be speaking and using Swedish all the time so no need to study that more than daily life, so I should use the year 2014 to make more bilingual Icelandic texts and continue learning Japanese. I suppose I will enrol in a course for Icelandic or Faroese (taught in Swedish) if I can alongside Swedish-degree studies in 2014. My goal for 2013 is to pass Spanish B2 exam at uni and to learn some Arabic.

You all are so intimidating with your big goals! Mine are smaller:
Swedish A2 reading and listening, A1 speaking and writing. Today I'm A1 and A0, respectively. I'll continue with the resources I've been using so far: Babbel.com, Teach Yourself Swedish, SwedishPod101.com, Radio Klar Text, 8sidor.se, and Hird's Elementary Grammar-Reader.
