Great progress! I really like your color-coding system for the genders in German. Many of my mistakes stem from the fact that I'm not sure of the gender.
Regarding reading: finding the right level is really important. Your looking for stuff that is what they call "n+1", that is, you understand almost everything, but it challenges you a bit with new words and grammar (but it is not a tsunami that drowns you!). I cannot read comfortably below 95% comprehension. If a line of text has 10 words, in 2 lines of text there can be at maximum 1 word I don't know for me to read easily. If it is 97% (1 word in 3 lines) even better!. In either case, you would be looking at 8-10 new words or expressions per page. Some people say go right to native material like a child's book, but for me graded readers were really great in the beginning. They had simplified text, but adult ideas. Children's books often have a lot of uncommon vocabulary about games, animals, etc. that actually you might find more useful later. Letztens habe ich neue gute Musik aus Deutschland gefunden. Es gibt eine fantastisch Band, dass Die Toten Hosen ist. Ich fand ihr Name lustig.
Ich glaube auch, dass meine Schreiben jetzt besser ist. Gestern kannte ich die Regeln einen Satz zu bauen nicht, so ich studierte sie in die Morgen. Ich muss Luso und Josquin danken, da sie mir half und beide sie mir führte zu lernen mehr Grammatik.

I think you're right. I tried to read children tales at first. It wasn't a good idea, because the tales were ancient and there were ancient declensions and other pretty strange things, such as words which are written differently nowadays. Yes, it looks like your writing here is a bit clearer than what you wrote just a couple of posts ago. Keep working! Still one or two problems with Wortstellung (which I think is the mistake that can most often impede understanding by a reader), but I think the biggest remaining issues (the "low-hanging fruit") are with case endings (it might be faster for someone else to correct, as I'd feel obligated to look up every word to be certain I'm not accidentally adding my own error). In your final clause, note that you're talking about a plural subject, so your verbs need to take the plural form as well. As for word order, the most obvious fix here looks like saying: "mehr Grammatik zu lernen." 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

Good effort! One might rephrase one or two sentences, because they don't sound very natural, but I think that's not so important at the point of your studies, so I only corrected the real mistakes. You definitely did much better than yesterday, but there still are some problems with genders, cases, and word order (in other words: the typical problems every student of German has). "Die toten Hosen" really is a funny name, because it's a pun on the German idiom "Hier ist tote Hose", which means the same as "Hier ist nichts los" ("Nothing's happening here"). Have you checked out Die Ärtze and Farin Urlaub? These are about the same kind of stuff

@geoffw, thanks for your encouragement! I think that I'll keep working on the order of the words for this month. At least, I aim to review it every now and then while learning more about the order with prepositions and adverbs at the first place.
@Josquin, your fastness is awesome :). Yes, I still don't now what the natural ways of saying things are. Mind you, if you spot a sentence which is syntaxically correct but it's really, really weird to the German ear, I appreciate its change! By the way, I didn't know such German pun! It sounded fun all the same ;). @stifa, I know Die Ärtze, though I like Die Toten Hosen more. I used to listen to that kind of music a few years ago, though not in German. Ich kannte, dass Deutsch war schwierig. Aber ich kannte nicht, er war so nett. Ich weiß nicht, ob es ist, dass ich in das Team bin, dass mein Interesse zu Deutsch stärker ist. Letztens studiere ich mehr, aber ich muss anderen Sachen studieren, als die Sachen, dass ich erst sagte. So ich bin froh, aber ich studiere minus Vokabular, dass das, ich intendierte.
Egal Galicisch ist. Ich bin nicht das jetzig studieren, obwohl ich mein Worte letztens setzen. Englisch ist anders, dass ich minus studiere, aber ich habe mehr Seiten gelesen und habe mehr Klasswerk getan. So ich bin ganz glücklich. Aber ich brauche mehr Deutsch zu studieren für besser schreiben, lesen, verstehen und sprechen. 1 person has voted this message useful |
