Hi everyone!
This log is for Greek and Russian for this year's TAC.
I have studied Koine Greek, and I learned it because I'm a Christian. Now I would like
to learn modern Greek. At this point, I'm really a complete beginner because all I
know is the alphabet and a few words. Since I have a background in Koine, I hope
grammar will not be too difficult to learn. By the end of the year, I would like to be
at an A2 level.
I'm also a complete beginner in Russian. I learned the alphabet when I started self-
studying it, but I do not remember it since I have not studied Russian recently. I
hope to be at an A2 level by the end of 2013.
Edit: This year I would like to improve my level in French. My current level is A2/B1,
and I would like my level to be B2.

Welcome! I think you will be much higher than A2 by 2014 :) If you already know the alphabet you're doing better than some of us (*cough*me)! What resources do you have in line for your studies this year?

Welcome ancpem! I am happy to tell you that we have squeezed you, as the absolutely last soul, into team Mir, together with the rest of the members of the second Russian team, so you can edit the title of your log so that everyone can see that you are now also member of the proud team MIR!
The first task I have given all the members of team Mir is to go visit and comment in the threads of all the members of the team, so knock yourself out :-)
I look forward to being on two teams with you, and happy that I have another beginner on the Greek team.

Hello! I'm on Team Mir with you - and I think we're probably at the same level as far as
Russian is concerned because I've only really started learning the alphabet today :).
Good luck with your languages this year; I'll be interested to see your progress with
Modern Greek as well as Russian. Just a question, but is Koine Greek the same as Ancient
Greek or is it different in some way?

@Crush I plan to start with free resources online. I welcome recommendations for materials!
@Solfrid Cristin Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm glad we're on the same teams.
@Silbermond I think Koine is different than Ancient Greek. I used to know more about the difference, but it's been awhile.
How do I edit the title of my log?

Ah, okay :). And you just edit the first post, that should let you change the title.

Here’s another beginner in Russian from Team MIR. There are a few of us, so we can keep each other company and spur each other on when we meet the first hurdles that Russian will surely throw in our way.
If you’re looking for free resources to study Russian, have a look at our team log: in post 2 tarvos is organizing a resource bank. You may find something useful there.
